RIP Eamon Burns - 3 Like(s)
For anyone who's not old enough to remember the early 90s Down won 2 all irelands and had a huge battle with a outstanding Meath team in 94 and our Eamon drove this Down team forward from Midfield scoring 2 fantastic points. A very humble, Quite man Eamon did his talking on the field and its so sad that he's left us so early. May you RIP Eamon.

Fantastic player a serious class act, will be badly missed not just by mayo but neutrals who enjoyed watching him play. mayo should get him onboard as a forwards coach.

Hope Tyrone give Dublin a very good rattle! - 3 Like(s)
Firstly I'm a down man then a ulster man, i for one would love to see my own county win ulster and all irelands more often but being honest the way our county is run thats not going to happen for many a year. If down can't win the all ireland then i am hoping a ulster team does [ yes all of them ] and I'm getting sick and tired of my fellow down people trying to put the boot into tyrone i find this insulting, ulster football is different to the rest because of the history in the north we stick together i know some down south don't get this and wouldn't cheer on there neighbours but we do and take great pride when it comes back up north. To my fellow down supporters please give this shite talk about tyrone a rest your giving us a bad name on here.

Championship Open Draw - 3 Like(s)

Replying To cavanman47:  "Why does everyone point to Kerry when naming a province where one county has an advantage? Cork are arguably a better side right now than anyone in Leinster outside of Dublin."
Just clowns looking for a reaction from kerry folk, very childish.

The Corona Virus And Possible Effects To GAA Matches - 3 Like(s)

Replying To ShinerMackey:  "I haven't read the messages above so apologies if this has already been stated. As time moves on I think we have to revisit decisions that were taken previously. It is highly likely that we will see no football this year at all. On the intercounty scene it's now time for the GAA to declare the national leagues based on the current tables: Division 1 Winners Galway. Mayo and Meath Relegated to Division 2 for 2021 Division 2 Winners Armagh. Roscommon promoted along with Armagh to Div 1. Fermanagh and Clare relegated. Division 3 Winners Cork. Longford promoted along with Cork. Leitrim and Louth relegated. Division 4 Winners Limerick. Antrim promoted along with Limerick. It's not ideal and there will be counties feeling hard done by however there can be no arguments that these promotions and relegations are based on what happened on the pitch and that is how it should be. It this decision was taken at least we will have finalised the 'current' competition and should it be possible to play any other football this year, we can go straight into a championship of some sort - personally I'd favour an old school straight championship, no backdoor, four provincial winners meeting in the All-Ireland semifinals. But if we can't do it then so be it."
personally would like to see league finished even behind closed doors as only 2 games left ( forget finals ). Just one thing Down our second in div 3 not longford as they have beat them.

personally i would rather they knocked inter county championship on a head, being played behind closed doors would do nothing for me watching it on tv with no atmosphere. Let the players concentrate on there clubs if and only if its safe which lets be honest its not. With todays events they seem to want to play it, and if thats the case we can have no challenge games but they should play the last 2 rounds of the league as there prep for the championship with no league finals just teams top our league champions and bottom 2 relegated so its ready to start again next year. Hurling again finish of league, championship structure is different to football but munster finalist and leinster into all ireland semi finals no back door in either code.

Kilcoo were outstanding yesterday, in control of the game from start to finish, there game management was excellent they sucked ballyboden in then hit them with pace from everywhere and boden could not cope with this. One thing which seemed to be part of there game plan was taking players out off the ball every time kilcoo attacked players were hit before there runs and how they only got 2 black cards was shocking, i was expecting a lot more from boden but only 3 points from play sums up there day. Regarding final Crofin will be big favourites but kilcoo our fit, v skilful and have a serious hunger in them and with mickey moran on the sideline you just never know, it will be a cracker in croker. One side note, not one kilcoo player started for Down in last years ulster opening game against Armagh unbelievable.

Sunday Game 2018 - 2 Like(s)
Totally agree with most on here its very poor especially showing matches that were live eariler in the day getting most of the airtime ( the league was a joke for this ). Couple of things they could do, 1, have the sunday game either football only or hurling only then on Monday night the other 1.30hrs highlight program this gives plenty of time to cover all games and give results especially to hurling competitions. 2, why oh why is the draw not live for the qualifiers on the sunday game this really pisses me off i want to be sitting on the edge of my seat praying for a home draw hoping well avoid x y and z. 3, Don't have people covering there own counties i don't want to here pat talking about kerry or whelan chatting about the dubs etc.

In my club in uk, we have cancelled all youth teams and cul camp this year over here its shameful what this goverment our doing. we have put a questionnaire to both our mens and ladies teams to get a feeling off were they stand ( we have a number of teachers and NHS workers ). Personally i would cancel all Gaa games over here throughout the country.

12 weeks for Connolly. Is a GAA Witch Hunt in progress? - 2 Like(s)

Replying To hill16no1man:  "I'm trying to understand how people continually used the fact comerford and mcgeeney got bans so Connolly had to for to be consistent but yet Philly McMahon got a ban for verbal abuse and none of the people seem to feel the same thing should apply for Brendan Murphy or not even a whimper in the media about it."
The media didn't go ott with the one match ban for Philly, a lot of people were wondering why he didn't play on sat night so its not being blown out of proportion, Regarding Dc he is guilt of the rule he broke i for one think its a shame not seeing him play but i ref games and you can't do what he did regardless of of it was a push/ shove or put hand on linesman he has done wrong, there is no trial by media here he's just guilt of what he did full stop.

Was Joey Barton Correct When He Said Woman Should Not Discuss Mens Sport - 2 Like(s)

Replying To Tirchonaill1:  "Joey Barton was spot on in my opinion, of course he'll likely be cancelled now and probably be flogged in public as well. Most women I know have no interest in football, they have even less interest in women's football. If you have kids or family members playing ladies football then ok they'll be involved when it's their own family playing, apart from that no, they have women presenters and pundits on just to satisfy the woke crowd."
100% spot on, its just a box ticking exercise.

Brolly's constant contradictions and Kerry Bias - 2 Like(s)

Replying To HeadButter:  "Candlewax, I agree with you 100%...Brolly is an embarrassment at this stage.totally contradiction time after time...Kerry pundits the usual cute hoorism out of them..The one RTE pundit I have most respect for is Ciaran Whelan who usually calls it correct and is not on a "Dublin" agenda like some of his Kerry panellists when they speak on Kerry.. I'd love to see Bernard Flynn on the Sunday Game..I really enjoy his analysis on the radio..."
Headbutter, you must have forgot about last years all ireland when whelan went after lee keegan all he wanted to talk about with his marking off dermo basically begging for the ref to go after him which started the dublin witch hunt all week in the media, i personally find him v boring to listen to. You should have nobody covering games regarding there own counties they have all a agenda when its there own.

Kerry V Dublin - 2 Like(s)
Lads reading these posts I'm pissing myself laughing that people our defending small, he's a want to be hard man but not very good at it as he keeps getting caught. He will cost the dubs in the end being sent off in 2 all ireland finals is not bad luck it was deserved he seems to get wound up in the high pressure games. I was at the Dublin v Tyrone all Ireland quarter final a couple of years ago and he had to mark Peter Harte he spend the whole game dragging, pulling body checking and tripping him it was embarrresing to watch he had no interest in the ball. He is not a victim off the media or anything else he is guilty every time, he is a very good player but he plays not on the edge but over it, maybe johney and philly could have a word with him they play on the edge but they our in control of what there doing, every team needs these players but small at this min has a problem.

Ballymun Vs Kilmacud - 2 Like(s)

Replying To MesAmis:  "But that's the point, it happens all the time. It shouldn't. Had the Crokes players not instigated it then it wouldn't have happened. They're worse than the Ballymun lads but will get less punishment. Its a hole attitude problem in the GAA. Crokes couldn't match Ballymun in football so they started fighting instead. That deserves far worse punishment in my opinion than lads reacting to it. If the Crokes lads hadnt decided "to act the hard man" no one would have been sent off at all. The Ballymun lads (except for Young) deserve their bans but the Crokes lads should get suspended for longer at least. The GAA need to start punishing those that instigate the rows as strongly as possible."
Totally agree with this, same thing happened in Down when Kilcoo beat Burren and after the final whistle Burren ( not all ) and subs starting a row with one sub running 30 meters to kick a kilcoo player in the face. Punishment was a 1 game ban for a kilcoo lad and 3 players from Burren got 1 game bans and 1 got a 2 match ban but this doesn't fit the crime these players should be getting 6/8 championship game bans and if that takes 2 seasons so be it. As you said Mesamis its the hard man approach can't win a football so lets start a fight to get players punished, county boards turn a blind eye to this everywhere it really ****** me off.
