London manager Ciaran Deely believes that Croke Park need to address the current championship structure in order to raise the standard of the game.

Deely feels that it would be beneficial for all counties if they were guaranteed more than two games during the championship.

London exited the campaign at the hands of Louth last weekend, having been beaten by Sligo in the Connacht SFC last month.

Their year is now over, along with a number of other counties and Deely feels that does not help improve the standard of football in the counties concerned.

"I think the GAA could give us a little bit of help in that regard. Like plenty of other teams, we just want games," Deely told the Irish Post.

"We have spent the last six weeks training, every night coming to the training pitch. When the sod is beautiful here in Ruislip and we just want to be out here playing matches.

"I don't know how London are supposed to really develop year on year when - in general - we only have two games. I hear commentators like Ciaran Whelan saying the weaker counties have to help themselves.

"I don't know how we can help ourselves more that we are doing at the moment. We need more matches. More high quality competition to push us on again."
