Limerick GAA send congratulations to Tiger Woods

Tiger Woods celebrates after winning his fifth Masters in Augusta.

Limerick GAA has sent its congratulations to Tiger Woods on the one-week anniversary of his US Masters triumph.

Woods captured his first Major in 11 years seven days ago at Augusta National and the Treaty County has this evening congratulated the 43-year-old on his fifth green jacket.

Last year saw Woods doing the same for Limerick after John Kiely’s men defeated Galway in the All-Ireland SHC final to end their county’s 45-year wait for the Liam MacCarthy Cup,  saying "it was a pretty cool result" for his friend JP McManus.

Woods told golfbytourmiss.com at the time: "JP is one of my dearest friends and it’s cool his Limerick team finally won the title as I know how passionate he is about his hurling as well as his love of horse racing and, of course, golf.

"I remember one year I was over for his Pro-Am and JP took me to a hurling match. I thought it was pretty neat but not a sport I would want to try.

"I try to keep in contact with him as much as our time allows but that’s great news for JP and Limerick and I’m really pleased for him as JP just does so much for sport in Ireland.”
