Palestinian campaigner to speak at Belfast GAA club

Palestinian flags are often flown at GAA matches across the country.
Former Tyrone GAA social media officer and Palestinian campaigner John Hurson will give a talk at St. Gall's GAA club in Belfast tonight.
The event takes place after Hurson handed over a copy of a pro-Palestinian petition, signed by around 1,200 people, including Peter Canavan, Mickey Harte and Oisin McConville, to the Ulster Council in Armagh earlier this week.
Hurson was controversially axed as Tyrone's social media officer after he criticised an attempt to remove Palestinian flags from Healy Park during the recent Ulster SFC semi-final between Fermanagh and Monaghan. The Ulster Council subsequently rubbished claims that it had banned Palestinian flags from its grounds.
Hurson says he expects to see hundreds of Palestinian flags flown at this Sunday's Ulster SFC final in Clones after a Tyrone fan was arrested during the county's recent All-Ireland football qualifier win over Meath for holding a Palestinian flag.
