Last night’s Sligo senior hurling championship semi-final double-header stretched on a bit later than anticipated.

The ‘early’ game at the Sligo GAA Centre of Excellence in Strandhill threw in at 7.30pm between Coolera/Strandhill and Easkey, after the teams had played out a 3-08 to 0-17 draw last Sunday.

Coolera/Strandhill edged the replay by a single point (2-14 to 3-10) and the second game between Calry/St. Josephs and Naomh Eoin was almost a quarter of an hour late from its original 9.00pm throw-in time.

It was another close affair, and had extra time been required then they could well have been playing up to midnight.

However, in the end, the scoreboard read 2-8 to 1-9 in Naomh Eoin’s favour when the full-time whistle sounded at 10.35pm.

The winners of this weekend’s final are set to play the Leitrim champions in the Connacht club championship.
