The ratification of Eddie Brennan as the new Laois senior hurling manager may not take place until the September meeting of the county board.

Following the proposal of the eight-time All-Ireland winner by the selection committee, it was assumed that the ratification process would be done at the August meeting of the Laois County Board.

However, traditionally, the county board does not convene in August, meaning the next meeting is scheduled for September 21st.

With the Laois senior hurling championship heading for the third round this weekend, should as expected, Brennan be officially appointed, he would miss out on a large chunk of the county SHC.

Talk within the county though is that a specially convened meeting will be held in the next week or so to rubber-stamp both Brennan's appointment and the retention of Laois senior football manager John Sugrue.
