Westmeath turn to LOI 'keeper

December 15, 2017

Dundalk keeper Gary Rogers

Westmeath manager Colin Kelly has appointed Dundalk FC goalkeeper Gary Rogers as the county's goalkeeping coach.

Kelly who oversaw his first game in charge when Kildare defeated the Midlanders in a challenge game last weekend, has his backroom team almost complete now.

Rogers is a Meath native who played football with the St Ultan's club, but his main passion has been the League of Ireland where he has represented Shelbourne, Drogheda United, Dublin City, Bray Wanderers, Galway United, St Patrick's Athletic, Sligo Rovers and currently Dundalk where he won three league titles in a row.

An experienced goalkeeper, the 36-year-old was included in the Republic of Ireland squad last year, and his knowledge of the position is sure to benefit the Westmeath 'keepers.
