Physio brands Kerry brawl 'a pure disgrace'

Violent scenes during the Kerry SFC semi-final replay between Dingle and East Kerry at Austin Stack Park, Tralee.

A physio who was on duty at yesterday's controversial Kerry SFC semi-final replay has branded the mass brawl which erupted just after half-time as 'appalling'.

Dingle's 4-13 to 0-13 victory over East Kerry was marred by violent scenes which were posted on social media. The brawl, which broke out close to the sideline in Austin Stack Park, lasted for two minutes and resulted in a red card for East Kerry's Paudie Clifford, whose brother and Kerry star David was also dismissed in the 47th minute. A member of each management team were also banished to the stand when order was restored.

Physio Ruth Allen tweeted afterwards: "It was a pure disgrace! Not to mention the stuff that happened last week!! This could have been avoided - as officiating Chartered physiotherapist I was appalled!"

Kerry star Killian Young had joked in a tweet last week that the Dingle and East Kerry players "were sizing each other up" after they trained side-by-side at the new Kerry Centre of Excellence ahead of the replay.
