Sligo manager Paul Taylor has stressed that his charges will have to up their work rate if they are to get their push for promotion back on track this weekend.

The Yeats County lost out to Wicklow in the FL4 refixture in Aughrim last Sunday, which was their first defeat of the campaign.

They are still very much in the hunt for promotion, but can’t afford to drop any points against Waterford at Markievicz Park on Saturday afternoon.

Taylor told the Sligo Champion that they need to match the hunger and desire that they showed in the opening two games in order to get back on track.

“It’s a desire to win and it’s work rate and it’s hunger and it’s discipline as well and Wicklow had that in buckets and we were just below the level we needed to be,” said Taylor.

“You’re not going to go out and win every game in this division either but we have a big game this week against Waterford at home in Sligo.

“We have to take what we can out of the Wicklow game – the biggest lesson for us is work rate and this side learning what it takes in certain places like this all around the country, this is what Division Four is about.”
