It always fascinates me how're Dublin supporters on here like to insinuate that they have the inside story on Dublin all the time. For probably most closed management team in the history of GAA, I think there is probably a lot of bluff & hyperbole in this regard.

Leinster Football The Reality - 9 Like(s)
I remember being at the replayed Leinster final in 2004, when Westmeath won their first Leinster title, The scenes on the day were amazing & will stay with me always. How anyone could say that that spectacle in Croke Park was in anyway enjoyable. Seeing idiots in other threads speaking of a 'sweet victory' for Dublin. How can a victory be sweet when there is one team in the country that dominates because of years of financial doping. I hope that the numbers continue to plummet & the GAA can finally see the harvest of chaff that they have sown.

Posters Crossing The Line - 9 Like(s)
Have noticed an emerging unsavoury tone by some posters of late. Indeed, what is surprising is the posts that are being generated by users that would have appeared level headed before. There is no place for personal slights on players or indirectly on their families. Important to remember that these are amateurs giving a big chunk of their time to their counties & for our entertainment. Keep the slagging general. We never know the impact of flippant commentary. #Give respect. Get respect.

Can't believe he is still permitted to post. I agree something not quite right there.

Thought this thread was about this years Leinster championship. Didn't realize it was a historical dissertation.

I was in Armagh last night to watch Down vs Monaghan. It was a cracking game of football & the Monaghan lads played their hearts out, bringing the game to extra time with an excellent Down side.Unfortunately it wasn't to be our evening & Down pulled away in extra time. As a spectator you could feel the emotion on the pitch. Only 9 days ago, we were all touched be the scenes of this young Monaghan team stand shoulder to shoulder at the grave of their captain Ógie Ó'Dufaigh. To go out there last night and play as they did was a fitting tribute to their friend & to his family, who were also there last night. At the end of the game there wasn't the usual celebrations by a team who had just won an Ulster final. Conor Laverty showed his class, showing that his thoughts at the moment of his side's deserved victory was with the grieving teammates of young Ógie. This is a terrific U20 Down team, not only with talent but with soul & I hope you go all the way. Thanks for the dignity you all showed yesterday.

Replying To cacsmckilly:  "Hopefully Hughes will leave McCann s hair alone this time round"
I don't think that likely to happen again cacsmckilly. McCann now has a tactic in place to prevent his hair being touched again - he now dives before any potential contact.

Replying To Jack_Goff:  "I'll try this again. Hopefully post approved this time. Preliminary Round: Louth v Wexford...........Louth Kildare v Wicklow..........Kildare Meath v Offaly...............Meath Quarter-Finals: Dubs v Louth..................Dubs Kildare v Longford.........Longford Meath v Carlow..............Meath Westmeath v Laois........Westmeath Semi-Finals: Dubs v Longford.................Dubs Meath v Westmeath.......Meath Final: Dubs v Meath..................Dubs"
As an outsider I don't agree. I think Westmeath would beat Meath. More experience & cohesion.

Look it, We can try & be positive, as I was before yesterday, but the reality is the Banty appointment has not worked - AGAIN. The team is rudderless. There is no system, no direction & no cohesion. I am not going to call out individual players as that isn't right. The buck stops with the Banty & his waffle & the big name back room team - there is no sign of any positive impact from any of them, only negative. It's time for Banty to go. You can put lipstick on a pig but is still a pig. The team do not seem in a good place & they deserve better than what the county board have imposed on them.

Are The Rumours True? - 6 Like(s)
It would appear to be fruitless anyway as I doubt if there will be any championship after watching the footage on Twitter of the carryon in Dublin last night (and I am sure replicated across the country). Bloody idiotic & so disrespectful to those who passed & to those who work in hospitals & emergency services, absolutely disgusting.

El Clasico 2020 Monaghan Vs Cavan - 5 Like(s)
An inevitable outcome due to the ineptitude of the county board first & foremost. What is that line about doing the same thing again & expecting different results. It was proven that Banty was not up to the job & yet he was given it. Any accountability anywhere?? BTW I wonder where is Hardcore? Very vociferous in his support of Banty but strangely quiet now.

Now your on the subject of war zones, there are plenty of war zones around the world and very few have been welcomed like the Ukrainians, Oh yes they are white. Plus I'd like to hear both sides of this war but can't."
A small country was invaded by a large neighbouring - what other side are you wishing to hear? You would think you might have a bit of empathy for this situation given some possible parallels. The mind baffles ….

Replying To Joxer:  "Dubs won their first AI in 16 years in 2011. How much "financial doping" had taken place at that point? 11 of those 2011 players are still the backbone of today's magnificent panel. Perhaps the whingers should look closer to home for their excuses. I've a lot of respect for Mayo and Kerry because they put it up to the Dubs and so too have, and probably will again this year, Donegal. Dublin were terrible in the first half today. A half decent team would have led them by 3 or 4 points at HT. But no, "financial doping" was the reason why Meath created bucketfuls of chances and kicked them all wide. Honestly."
Oh sorry you are right. Nothing to see. Move on.

Replying To galwayfball:  "Well done . Better team won"
Thank you. Fairly equal I would think but a few changes made by Galway were questionable. Ye should have won but when it went to extra time, I think Monaghan had the momentum & belief. Good luck in the championship

Armagh Vs Galway - 5 Like(s)

Replying To OpenStand:  "The carry on of some Armagh players and subs is all a by product of political history over the last 100 years. Armagh Nationalists/GAA folk suffered horrifically at the hands of Loyalist/British gangs and this creates a very battle hardened community who will literally die for their jersey/identity . We in the south over the last 100 years haven't experienced that but many of these armagh players came from familys/communitys that suffered horrifically . It doesnt excuse it but the Galway and Armagh players worlds they were brought up in are poles apart unfortunately ."
Oh for god's sake. A bit of manners is as easily carried. No excuses.

Replying To jim88:  "And here come the naysayers.we should be glad a manager of bantys calibre wants the job and row in behind him and the lads for 2020 with less of the negativity from the social media trolls.banty puts his heart and soul into everything that breathes Monaghan football.rough year with the u20s this year but any other team in Monaghan he's been with he has brought a lot of success and no shortage of passion.."
Heart & soul won't win anything. This is an absolute joke. An absolute embarrassment. And the greatest insult to the lads who TRULY have put their hearts & souls into their county. Their commitment obviously meant nothing.

Replying To galwayford:  "As a S.F voter I would disagree. I think they should be given a chance to govern. They would be good for the GAA and Irish language. And probably the economy too. They would bring an all island view, which to me, we are just a small island on the edge of Europe. And need to pull together."
They had a chance to govern but didn't really engage in any meaningful way. If the ever got any power, I would be out of here like a rat out of an aqueduct! Truly would be the end of our great Republic.
