Replying To royaldunne:  "Well that's a lie. Show me one post where I slated cillian. Go on one. ? Or did you just dream it up???"
Another poster in the Clare thread said that COS doesn't bring anything to the team. You said you "didn't disagree" (so you agree). If someone made the same point about the likes of Biggie or Brennan, you'd be up in arms calling them keyboard warriors among other things. Now just so I'm 100% clear, I don't stand for abuse of players (and there was a lot on Twitter after the Dublin game). That sort of crap is simply not on. As you stated previously, these players are giving up a huge chunk of their lives for this team. And they don't do it for sponsorship deals or free cars. That has to be applauded regardless. However, backed up, constructive criticism of players after poor performances is OK in my view. They're grown adults. But you seem to lump every bit of criticism of your favourites into the "abuse" category. Brennan was justifiably criticised over his performance against Dublin. I didn't see any abuse of him here. Yet you've been screaming blue murder about "keyboard warriors" on here since Sunday. Again, I've nothing against you criticizing certain players. It's more the complete and utter hypocrisy from you where you feel that any criticism of certain players (and McEntee) counts as abuse while you're coming out with similar criticisms about other players. It's extremely tiresome, especially when you back it up with accusing certain posters of being Dubs or having more than one account.

Replying To royaldunne:  "And a dub. I'm a Meath supporter, (hardly expect you to understand) but he could walk on water and to me he is still a dub, and not worthy of talking about. I'd prefer to praise Donal Keoghan, Pauric harnan , Brian menton, micky Newman, james Conlon, Mickey burke (a man you slated many times on here) men both young and old who give their all for their county from October/November for no financial rewards, no 6k per appearance, no ,for the love of Meath, and then to get slated by some of their own? While the praise others with every resource under the sun. Fans like you this Meath team can do without, join the many dubs in aig tops if that's what you want. However I will wear the green and gold till I die and proudly say they are as good as any other county. REAL SUPPORTER HON THE ROYAL."
Yet "slating" Cillian O'Sullivan is just fine as long as you're the one that's doing it? Does he not give his all for his county for no financial rewards? Admit it, you give yourself carte blanche to criticise certain players yet you treat any criticism of your favourite players (and McEntee) as "abuse". I know you won't even have the balls to address any points made, you'll just pat yourself on the back once again.

Meath Clubs In Leinster - 22 Like(s)
With the club championships over, it's onto Leinster club championships. Clann na nGael Intermediate hurlers were already in action in the Leinster Junior club hurling championship a few weeks ago when they beat Maynooth. Their quarter final is against Westmeath Intermediate champions Cullion in Trim tomorrow at 12:30pm (before Kildalkey's game). If they win that, they'll be up against either Carlow or Wexford opposition. Kildalkey set out to do what Kiltale couldn't during their five county championship wins in a row and win Leinster. They've been drawn on the opposite side to the Kilkenny and Wexford Intermediate champions so they've probably the easiest path to the final they could have hoped for. They're up against Offaly Senior B champions Seir Kieran at 2:30pm tomorrow afternoon. If they manage to get by them, it'll be a semi final against Bray Emmets or Scoil Uí Chonaill of Clontarf. Clann na nGael's footballers are also in action in the Leinster JFC the following weekend against Westmeath opposition. They're away to Ballynacargy in the quarter final. Nobber play Dunlavin of Wicklow away in the Leinster club IFC quarter final on November 9th. Win that and they'll meet either Mattock Rangers of Louth or Monasterevan of Kildare in the semis. And finally, another Westmeath team as Ratoath play Garrycastle in Mullingar on Sunday week. Interesting to see how we fare in Leinster. I'd hope that we can give it a go as we all know how poorly Meath teams have done recently. If we were to win that game, it would likely be a massive game against the Dublin Champions two weeks later. Best of luck to all Meath teams in Leinster and hopefully at least one club will have an extra bit of silverware at the end of the year.

Replying To royaldunne:  "It also seems that some Meath people are happy to get beat just so they can whinge, or say I told you so. Honestly 31 counties are delighted Meath got beat yesterday but in their bile and vitriol they are been helped by Meath supporters too, taking swipes at their players manager captain anything, and the anti Meath crowd are loving it and laughing at those dissing their own. The say there are none so blind ."
Bit rich coming from a guy who still spews nothing but bile and vitriol at our last manager even though he's been out of the job for almost a year now. Is he not also "one of our own"? You've also come out stating that some players yesterday are not intercounty standard. That's your opinion and you are more than entitled to it, but can I ask why you feel you're entitled to criticize certain players yet when other posters criticize, you resort to personal insults and petty digs like claiming posters want Meath to lose? Why the double standard? I would genuinely like an answer to this.

Replying To royaldunne:  "Ahh I see cause it was a rathoath player is the problem. Eamonn Wallace has had one good game for Meath v Tyrone in mickos first year, he has had injuries along the way, but along with cian O'Brien they just cant cut it at county standard in my own opinion, they have been tried many times but even against the likes of Louth they don't do it again in my own opinion.
Thanks lads for your service and best of luck with your club. I do rate McMahon even though he had bad game yesterday . So its not anti rathoath , as for mod? He is one That brought us to where we are, and Andy is trying to revive it."
And again you make it personal. You're beyond a joke at this stage. How about you grow a pair and answer my question? You are more than entitled to hold your opinion. I have not even argued against your opinion as a matter of fact. The question is simple: why do you resort to insults and petty digs when someone criticizes Biggy's performance.

In our last two games in Ballybofey, we were dreadfully unlucky not to win. We tend to perform up there while not getting results. Donegal fans have us written off. All they have to do is show up and they've two points on the board. Let's hope for lots more of that from their side during the week. We seem to do well running through the middle but we need to convert pretty much every goal chance we get (and we will get a few). Hopefully we have a referee that actually referees Michael Murphy instead of giving him frees every time someone breathes near him while letting him away with everything. Nothing to lose in this. We're not expected to get a single point so let's go for it!

Replying To Young_gael:  "I take on board your points. Great post. However I disagree on that 2010 Leinster final; I agree in that Sludden hadn't a good game. It was an erratic, narky game and Louth had chances to push on that they didnt take. I agree they soiled themselves in the last few minutes and it devolved into a shambles from them. Meath on the day got nothing and didnt play well, I accept those as facts. However the rest of your points on that particular games seems irrelevant. The rest of the country doesent care about that stuff... they care that Joe Sheridan fell over the goal line a minute over the stated injury time and threw the ball into the net and Sludden and his unpires bottled the call denying a very spirited Louth team on the day the win or at least a chance to save a penalty. They remember the babylonian scenes on the pitch when he blew the full time whistle. The story of the year was extinguished in a split second and Meath came out of that affair looking very sour and even secretly gleeful at the occasion. I agree with you as a fan that the game was a mess and Louth didn't win it when it was all on a plate for them but it doesen't stand the test of time to take that angle. To the rest of Ireland we were the villains, its that simple. And if I was to be honest I dont think we've ever looked at ourselves in the mirror in this county and tackled that issue properly ever since."
What was there to tackle? We got a score that shouldn't have been allowed thanks to a poor refereeing decision. The disgraceful scenes that happened on the pitch afterwards had nothing to do with us so I've no idea why you're including that. We've been on the receiving end of some horrific decisions over the years that have likely affected the results of games. 2005, Ciaran Whelan clocked Crawford at the throw in, got a yellow card. 2007 Dublin drawn game: Dublin's goal allowed despite it being a square ball, Geraghty's goal disallowed despite there being nothing wrong with it. 2007 Cork game: Noel O'Leary punches Graham Geraghty in the first half. Gets a yellow card. 2009 Dublin game (seeing a trend here): Ger Brennan not sent off despite committing numerous offences and the referee admitting afterwards that he mistakenly failed to add on enough injury time (if I remember correctly, there should have been another 5 minutes added on due to a serious injury). 2011 Kildare game: Farrell sent off and, incredibly, had the red card upheld despite literally doing nothing. Geraghty had a perfectly good goal chalked off too. 2018 Tyrone game: Last minute of extra time, blatant free within scoring range not given. Did we piss and moan and demand replays? No. Did we go on the pitch and attack the referee or opposition players? No. We got on with life. And who cares what the rest of the country thinks? Everyone hated Meath long before that happened. That just gave them another excuse. Even with the whole Christy Ring final debacle a few years back which Meath had nothing to do with, you had people come out of the woodwork claiming that Meath were trying to cheat (despite the fact that the Meath management actively tried to correct the referee's error at the time). People will hate Meath regardless. Nothing we do will change that.

Just a quick question, were Louth fans bad fans of their county if they didn't believe that they were going to beat Dublin in the quarter final (bearing in mind that they lost by 26 points)? What about Wicklow fans that didn't believe last year (23 point loss). Or fans of Longford (who you'll remember beat us) last year who didn't believe (19 point loss)? I would personally say that people going to games to cheer and encourage their team when they believe they will lose are great fans! I don't think we have any chance next Sunday. But I'll be there cheering them on. I won't be too downhearted if we lose by double figures as that's just what generally happens when Dublin play in Leinster. If we give it the best we can on the day, I'll be happy and we can hopefully bring that performance into the qualifier game. But dumping on people because they're realistic and not delusional about our chances against a team that hasn't been beaten in Leinster for 9 years is just bizarre. Believe me, no one would be happier than me if I was wrong and I'd be the first to admit that I was wrong (actually, it'd probably take a few days cos I'd be busy celebrating). But I literally see next to no chance of that happening.

RD, it's clear that you are upset that McEntee has not been the messiah that you hoped in year 1. He is obviously a good manager and is definitely a big improvement on the last two years under MOD, but we have simply not got the players to consistently challenge the way you or I would like unfortunately. From the start of the year, the bizarre hyperbole that you've come out with is what has gotten on people's nerves. Before the league even started, you were not even saying that we had a good chance of promotion, you were saying that it was simply a case of who would join us in promotion. When that didn't happen, you went on about the "mental scars" of MOD's reign being the reason behind it. Then it got even better! Before the start of the championship, you categorically stated that Louth would be a bigger test for us than Kildare. That Kildare would not be able to live with us only for Kildare to completely outclass us from start to finish. The bottom line is that you simply cannot handle the fact that some people disagree with your views on McEntee/Biggy. You are more than welcome to criticise other players and managers but if someone dares to criticise the above two, all of a sudden it's because they have an agenda. How about you reign in your unrealistic expectations. I've no doubt we'll make progress under McEntee but it's baby steps given the players he has at his disposal. There's nothing wrong with being optimistic and positive, but the statements you earlier in the year were just crazy and your constant dummy spitting when people challenge your views does not exactly endear you to anyone else.

Replying To royaldunne:  "I see a few of the usual suspects trying to put the boot into graham Reilly, classy. He was marked out of game. Simple. He came up against his match. No shame in that. Kept going. Eamonn Wallace is not inter county standard, McMahon didn't look interested I could pick 12 Meath players who didn't or weren't allowed to play today. Graham among them, keoghan had a bad game as did jones , lenihan wasn't at all as good as he has shown, Tobin and Burke were cleaned out in backs , best player was menton. O'Sullivan did plenty of running with the ball, his finish was shocking and gave ball away more often than not, Relax the heads. Andy is a fantastic manager, the lads didn't perform today, btw we can't draw mayo, Tyrone or Donegal so please less of the we gone after next game. Regroup, refocus. And above all keep supporting. Hon the Royal."
Ah, so not a single person can criticize Biggy when he goes missing in a big game but you get carte blanche to "put the boot in" to other players? Fact is, if Biggy is a truly great player (and he can be) he simply should not get marked out of big games like this evening. Fact is, regardless of how good Andy is a manager (and I do think he is a good manager), the players simply are not there. If it was 12 months ago and this evening's performance was produced under MOD, you would be spitting feathers. At least have the decency to admit that! Now though, you sound like Comical Ali saying everything is fine even though we've been trounced by Kildare in two games this season. On today's game, COS I think just got completely frustrated and tried to do everything himself. He was one of the few that actually gave 100% until he went off injured. I don't know what we were playing at with our full forward line to be honest. Our half forward line was completely non existent and hail Mary balls were played into Lenehan and McMahon giving them no chance. Kildare always had two or three players free to mop up the ball. Kildare were good but I think Andy has to take at least some of the blame for that result today.

Replying To head4dblackspot:  "How can you say any team in a county semifinal is below par What do they need to do Come on come clean are you one of the disgruntled Ratoath people?"
Neither team has played to the standards that both set at the height of last season. Summerhill really should have been beaten by one/both of Moynalvey and Tones while we struggled for long periods against Skryne and Simonstown. Even against Nobber, we didn't really get going until the second quarter (we were behind for the first quarter of the game). That's my point. From a Ratoath POV, I'm also generally more pessimistic about our chances. This has been the case for the 20+ years I've been going to Ratoath games so it's nothing to do with me being disgruntled. I've seen Ratoath's first team fail to reach Junior knockout stages more than once so why would I be disgruntled at reaching our second senior semi-final.

While I do think Conlon could struggle on Sunday, I don't think it'd be fair not to start him. He won't learn anything if he only starts against the weaker sides and I think he's been our stand out forward from play so far in the championship. Though if it is looking like he's simply not getting a sniff of the ball, he should be replaced early enough.

12 years ago Wexford had to beat us by 9 points, or more to deny us promotion from the old division 2B. They beat us by 8 and it was one of the luckiest games that we were involved in. We're in no position to take any game lightly if promotion hasn't been mathematically secured. Play the best team we can and if things are going well, then bring on the subs. Don't give ourselves any chance to become a laughing stock on Sunday evening.

Replying To LoyalRoyal66:  "Not true at all. They've been the most consistent team in Meath this past 6 years. They've cleaned up in leagues and Feis cups which are more difficult to win (certainly the league). Any team can go on a lucky run in a championship, look at Simonstown in 2016. No win in their first 3 games. You don't get away with that in league football, you have to be ready to go every week. Take your eye off the ball and you'll find yourself in a relegation scrap"
You've come up with some right doozies but that's up there with them. Harder to win the league than the championship???!!! I'd argue that the main reason that Kells have won the League is that other teams have had to do without their county players while Kells, rightly or wrongly, have always had their full team available.

Pinching myself. Couldn't be happier for the team and the management. They've well and truly proved all the doubters wrong. Delighted for so many people in the club too for the sheer amount of work they've put in for decades. Also delighted for our club president (who's in his 90s I think) who never thought he'd see this day. The players did the whole club proud yesterday. Hard luck to Summerhill. Didn't happen for them on the day and they probably got their tactics wrong, but it goes without saying that they will be back next year.

Sincere commiserations to Kells. We would have had no complaints had they won. We were uncharacteristically sloppy once we went ahead. Did not see us managing that last minute goal. But we are a team that has some amount of bottle (which is ironic given that we were always accused of lacking it over the years). In 4 out of our 5 games this year, we've been behind at half time and we've won each of them. Joey Wallace is just pure class. First game of the year and he ends up man of the match in the county final yet again.

Anyone who expected anything other than an easy Dublin win was only fooling themselves. Couldn't believe that some posters were actually hoping for terrible weather. Our attacking game was killed because of the poor conditions. Defence was quite strong, especially in the first half but our shooting was absolutely atrocious. Brennan should have been taken off frees early on. Can't blame Conlon for not getting into the game. He was left completely isolated for the whole game. Whatever happens in the qualifier game, we really need to get the likes of McKeever and Lenehan back next year. Hoping for a kind draw in round 4 but can see us getting someone like Tyrone or Armagh. Going to be tough to get the players to up their game after that.

Second quarter of the game was a killer. But I'm delighted that the team came out and fought in the second half instead of accepting defeat. The Dubs genuinely looked rattled at times. McEntee's hard (but perfectly legal) hit on O'Callaghan typified the performance for much of the second half and Costello's goal was brilliantly taken on the back of an excellent run by Keogan. Unfortunately, we left ourselves with way too much to do. But it was nice to see us at least die with our boots on. That was Dublin's closest game in the province since 2013. But it's still a loss at the end of the day, and we're out of the championship and that'll have to be analyzed. But I think Andy's done enough to warrant another season at the least.
