Replying To latouche25:  "Sounds like you're trying to line up Masterson for the county final."
Am I not allowed to commend a ref on his performance ?
Stupid comment.

Kiltale look to be front runners yet again fir the championship, this year really setting a mark early in the championship compared to last year when winning the last group game to make QF. Longwood look to to have 6/7 nice hurlers and the rest know there job on the team which seems to work very well for them could see them going far. Trim seemed to struggle against blackhall missing douglas there seemed to be no one to take the game by the scruff of the neck for them and going forward it might seem if you mark douglas they could be in trouble for scores. There will only be a puck of a ball between them and Na Fianna to decide who progresses to Senior A nect year,
Na Fianna have a lovely mix of a team with high skill level and have seemed to get the hardened agressive work rate to go with it this year. They will only be getting stronger going forward with Ethan Devine and Shane Walsh to come back into there side and i would fancy them make last 4.

Hurling games in dunsaughlin for a few years now, helped out co board when other pitches unavailable. nothing new here

In fairness with Ratoath being senior now, Dunshaughlin is a decent neutral venue when they're the South Meath clubs. Good pitch and facilities so no reason they shouldn't get games

Dunshaughlin's main pitch in the summer is one of the best hurling fields in the county

Completely wrong here
Dunshaughlin is a really bad hurling venue
Nothing to do with the quality of the pitch it self as I think it is one of the best surfaces we have in summer
But for hurling it is way way to narrow and to short
There is no room to hurl
A free out on the 13 meter line is a possible score for a lot of teams now
It is on of the narrowest pitches in the county so you will never see good hurling because there is no room lots and lots of frees because of the congestion
Also backstops are really short so balls constantly going in to college or across the road
And to be fair a club that doesn't hurl and broke their hurling ties to only concentrate on football should not benefit from a a hurling game

Couldn't agree more. Dunshaughlin have excellent facilities and the surface on both pitches is immaculate but the main pitch is to small for hurling. Having attended a few hurling games there the games were riddled with frees and were complete stop start games due to the congestion. The new pitch beside the main one is perfect for hurling and should be used instead.

Trim is far and away the best venue for a hurling match , good big pitch , and in the middle of the hurling area so always good crowds and atmosphere , neutrals will attend as its not far from most that would be interested.
Hopefully they can put some sort of stand in a get the finals back where they should be.

Nobody in dunshaughlin cares about hurling in general and pitch is far to small so i dont see how its a good choice.
Excellent post above about frees etc.

My point. Why should dunshaughlin benefit from hurling game incomes. They don't do anything to encourage hurling in such a well populated town and in fact hurling down the years was treated with disdain. I also don't buy the ratoath element. Dunshaughlin is about 5k from ratoath. Should drumree not get these fixtures.

Anybody any idea when the junior hurling final is to be played.

A complete review of the junior and intermediate competition is required. Both o'mahonys and athboy pulled out of the junior hurling this year.

To review what? Junior is a very fickle grade and always has been. If a team is missing a few players and get a few bad results interest always disappears. A few good results and the opposite happens. Go to a junior group game and many teams will have almost no subs, yet there's always 30+ man panels at the junior finals...
