Id leave C'o sullivan out. Slows the game down far too much when in the middle of the park. spell on bench is needed i think

I would not change the defence massively from the Dubs game. Remember that they were under additional pressure as the forwards were so poor and providing easy turnarounds for the Dubs. Only in the second half did the Dubs kick on.

It was up front that Andy made the critical errors against the Dubs. Colm O'Rourke said the worst in 50 years at the weekend. Not sure if it was that bad but it was bad.

Graham Reilly has to be dropped, he is still a good option from the bench and hopefully will be again on Sunday. James Conlon needs help up front and I would start with O'Reilly and Newman up there with him and try and play a conventional enough forward line.

Really not sure about midfield. Shane was poor versus the Dubs but has been quite good all year so I would stick with him with the option of Flanagan.

Ah yea, because one bad game from a scoring point of view means we are a terrible team.....don't mind the scores we put up in the previous 3 games, or the entire league campaign!!! We should beat Clare by about 5 points or more because over the last 3 years we've consistently done just that.

I am wondering what you mean when you post in relation to Andy , staying quote " the CB Must do everything
to ensure he does " can you elaborate what you mean by this ...in other words what extra must the CB do that it is not doing at the moment ? As a delagate to the CB ,I am interested in your opinion. Or is it just the usual lazy " blame the CB " throw away remark . ?

The man should be given the freedom.of the county and a 10 year deal. New stand in navan named after Andy and a testimonial for him also. Its the least he deserves

Am I right in thinking that this game will mean that we'll have played every county in Ireland in championship football? Was having a think about it and Clare were the only team I could come up with that we were missing.

Furlong, maybe you know?

Just looking at the Clare results this year its a it a mix bag, a bit like ourselves. Bad showing against Waterford even though they won. But yet a credible result against Kerry. But looks they are on a roll with there last too games.

Clare 9 Waterford 8
Clare 12 Kerry 1.15
Clare 3:17 Letrim 17
Clare 1:13 Westmeath 15

People on this trying to say this is going to be a very tough game and close.

Maybe it will be, but if we are worried about beating Clare, what chance have we in the super 8s.

Who knows what chance we have but it would be great to get there and test ourselves against Div1 opposition before the league next year and the super 8s is a shot to nothing, there's no relegation so we have nothing to lose.

But look we have to take each game as it comes, we're not in the Super 8s, we're playing Clare in a round 4 qualifier and that's why they should be our only focus.

I think it's natural for people to be worried, I doubt the opposition even matters, we have a good chance of making the last 8 for the first time in 9 years, nerves are just part of build up.

I think we will win also, but I suspect most of the posters here (particularly anyone at the Offaly game this year) is worried about the team having an off day.

That said, I was in Ennis for the league game this year and I thought the Clare standard of football was much lower than our only 5 (?) point win suggested.

Clare struggled over westmeath who lost their best player after 5 minutes and best forward later in the first half they also gifted them their goal.
Clare only bet Waterford by 1 point before playing ok when the game was over against Kerry but if Meath are going to put the Dublin game behind us and compete in the last 8 we would want to be winning this game by 5+ points .
Hopefully Harnan will be fit to play if so I would take off Brennan and Conlon and start Dardis and Harnan .
Meath -2 even money

Harnan (As a workhorse if fit)

Newman (Must stay in)
Conlon (Worth one more go)

Note that half foward line has been terrible in championship so far so really going for broke with this line-up.

I wouldn't be leaving off mc Mahon I think he covers a serious amount of ground every game

I couldn't care if he ran 20K against Dublin. -----------------Could be a corner forward option as a substitute but thats it in my opinion.

What have we got to lose by starting him. Our half forwards have been woeful!

Smart move is to bring him on in the second half on sunday and if he goes well and we win there will be plenty of games in super 8s where he can start, agree half forwards have all been poor

For all the games you claim to go to you must not be watching them! Brennan is brutal on frees. Missed 2-3 against Carlow. Missed 3 against Laois. Missed 3 against Dublin. Dont get me started on the 2 he missed in normal time against Tyrone last year to put the game to bed.

"Brennan adds as much to General play as O'Sullivan". I had to read this twice as I was certain you made an error. Ridiculous statement to come up with and I'm not O'Sullivans biggest fan. For all his possession it doesnt translate into half the scores that it should.
