Didn't hear anything about it. However I know in 99 we lost a challenge game to limerick, and in 96 were hammered by Tyrone. So never read anything into these.

Might be some rivalry between clubs on Meath Monaghan border but also good will as evidenced when the sinkholes appeared in Magheracloone's pitch, they got the use of facilities in Meath.

I didn't hear that. But I was at Meath V Roscoomon one and we unlucky to get a draw get could have lost that by 7 or 8 and had no complainants but it was mostly a second or even third string team. So you have have to know the line up etc and be at it before you could read anything in to it.

The big rivalry of course is Meath v The Dubs in Leinster. Hopefully it will be back to when it was like the good days of the late 80's and 90's.

3-18 to 0-16 I am told. A goal each for O'Donoghue, Clifford and Geaney in the first half

Of course there will be a gulf in class Kerry are going to be close All Ireland this year and we are not at that level and the real limtus test come against Dublin hopefully if get to the Leinster final this will show far we are off the top 3 teams in the Country which Kerry Dublin and Mayo because if anyone outside those 3 win the all Ireland I would be very surprised because realistically we can give anyone of the remaining teams match I think we can take any of them on our day. So Aim one achieved for the year finally got to Division One which will stand us next year playing the top teams every week. Second aim is a Leinster final appearance and third one to get in the super Eights that would a great achievement in my opinion something build on for next year hopefully keep improving alot of good work done but alot more to be done. So all we can do is supporters get Navan on Sunday get behind lads and let's hopefully give Offaly a lesson in Football. Cmon the Royal

Good. Only way we are going to improve and get to next level is by playing likes of Kerry. We will surely take a few trimmings but it shows the lads the standards they need to reach and let's us know where we are. Bring on Div 1!

14/16 points is a great tally scored against a team like Kerry. Meath seamed to be caught out by Kerry in first half. I'd say Meath learned a lot from this game.

They're going in right direction and from watching club games in Meath, I think they've all the top players in at the minute. From watching these club games I'm not so sure any of the players that walked away are a loss. Most of them are just average players that would struggle to get on other county teams of similar standard to Meath. Meath this year should get to Leinster final and if organised and a little bit of luck can put it up to the Dubs. Looking forward to next couple of games.

Meath started the game very open and got cut apart, both teams played pretty much full teams, Kerry started with O'Donoghoe, Geaney and Clifford in the full forward line, conceded 3 goals in first 20 mins. Well beat in the end but got plenty out of it

Got to say I'm actually impressed how we did against a full Kerry team, it seems the goals killed the game but we kept fighting. Let's be honest we not going to beat Kerry Dublin or mayo this year. It's all about progress and this will be good prep for championship. Hon the royal.

Yeah, if we got off to a bad start its a pity, But if we where playing a strong enough team, No point in busting lungs to back in the game with a Championship game looming against Offaly.

Ahh sure if and when we do play them, I will not only convince myself but also anyone else that will listen that we will beat them.
I'll be honest with you, if we get to super 8s we would more than likely be in same group as Kerry. I'd love to have that game in navan, as there I think we would beat them.

Interesting piece in one of the papers at the weekend, previewing the championship. 8 pundits asked for their predictions and all but one predicted Meath to reach the super 8's. I know this is looking a long long way ahead and making a lot of assumptions but the way the provincial draws are this year, the Round 3 winners in the qualifiers are likely to be four out of roscommon, kildare, tyrone, donegal, monaghan and armagh. Would we beat all of them coming off the back of a leinster final loss with our opponent having won 1 or more matches in the qualifiers? That's what it may boil down to.

The only two I'd worry about would be Tyrone or donegal, that been said the last few times we played either of them we should have beat them. So yeah I'd be confident enough of beating them

I'll add one thing. Would any of them fancy playing us?

I'd add Monaghan to that list, they are a fair bit further down the road in their development compared to us. That said, you're right - we've performed well against Tyrone and Donegal recently and they would not fancy meeting us.

They played 2 different teams in both halfs, but also had trained heavy enough for the 2 days previous as it was, afterall, a training weekend. Heard only possitive things from a straight shooting member of backroom team
