I couldn't make it to the game but was listening to it on LMFM online. This is exactly what I was talking about with the pressure of having to win each game so early being big for 16 and 17-year-olds. It sounded like we were absolutely all over them but kicked a few wides early, missed goal chances. That's when the pressure really comes on and the nerves kick in. Full credit to them and to David Bell who stepped up with 4 points in the second half using his experience from last year and showing leadership. Full credit to the team for gritting and getting through it. I think this team still has massive potential and if we can play well and get over Wexford next week then they might get momentum and you never know what can happen then

Sounds like a right slogfest tonight, 0.8 to 0.5, conditions poor and a poor game I'm told with plenty of wides, still a win is a win, on to next week now

It was an awful night for football and while the game wasn't pretty - Meath deserved the win and will be happy to move on to the final game in the group. I think we have to make allowances for the fact that these lads are Under 17 and still not matured men! Their shooting lacks the penetration of senior footballers and therefore on a night like this with a horrible wind scores can be hard to come by! Well done all for getting the result!!

I noticed a post earlier on a social media site which was critical of the numbers attending last night!
Yes - numbers were low but a few things were pointed out such as the round ofkwague fixtures

But what is the story with playing minor championship games on a school night? Must be hard for the players to prep for the game especially the away team
But also - many kids of this age are doing school exams and possibly training with their clubs
I was lucky to be travelling back from Cavan otherwise I wouldn't have made it!

Surely for minor championship Saturday or Sunday would be better for players and fans

Yeah desperate night for football. Disapointed with a few players that really should be our go to men but them conditions wouldn't suit most of the players we have.

Tough night for minors . Had a lot of wides in first half and squandered a goal chance. Backs and keeper did well and limited offaly to points from frees only . I think going forward we need to steady up in front of goals and improve our shooting . We found it hard to get over the line against not so strong Offaly team and we left them in the game till the end . Offaly were poor in second half especially leaving their Full Forward and best player inside and they could not get the ball to him. I hope our midfield and some of our forwards improve the next day and get some confidence back

Well done to the Minors last night - comprehensive win just when needed and good to see the forwards find their scoring boots!

Couldn't make it to Navan and was actually at Westmeath Carlow because I was down that neck of the woods. Sounded like an improvement from our boys

Yes a great result and Meath were the better team . I think the drier conditions suited us better as we are quite a small team especially around midfield but mobile . Wexford had only one plan to drop into their full forward . Our kickouts were good and I think everybody played well . But I do worry about the middle of the pitch going forward

Good to get a win after the unconvincing performance against Offaly. We got some of the goal very easily but looking forward to the quarter final now. Not in anyway guaranteed but would be good if we could reach the Leinster final.

If Laois beat Longford then we have Westmeath in a quarter. If they don't then we have Laois. I would much rather Laois as I think Westmeath are very impressive and wouldn't be surprised at all to see them in the Leinster final

We have Westmeath on the 1st June. It says on the Leinster website that home and away arrangements apply until the final. Because we played Westmeath away last year I am assuming that it will be in Navan which would be a big help

Away to Westmeath at 2pm in Mullingar on Saturday 1st . They are quite a strong outfit beating Carlow comprehensively last time out and will be a big test for our lads

Leinster GAA change their rules every year it seem. Only a week ago on the website it said "Home&Away agreements continue as hertofore except Final". Our minors played Westmeath last year in Westmeath, how is it not in Navan this year ?

I was at that Westmeath Carlow game. I only see us against Dublin. It was only one game but Westmeath looked to be a better team than both us and Dublin

If we play as well as we did in second half v Wexford I think we have a great chance . Are they strong at midfield

One excellent fielder. Caught 5 marks the last day, big athletic lad. They are a good bit better than us there but hopefully we could fight to win breaks

Very disappointing that our journey ends today. Had chances to win. Our team just wasn't as talented or as physical as the last two 17's team. But still some decent players like Carolan, Bell, Finnerty hopefully have a bright future and then 3 or 4 lads off this team be minor again next year
