Some interesting results this weekend. Bective beating Trim the biggest surprise imo. Bracks 0 from 2 also a surprise. What are people's thoughts as we head into a 3 month break!!

Anyone of 3 or 4 teams could win the intermediate, still expect Trim to be there at the business end, Dunderry going well and Oldcastle back on track, Division one team Syddan struggling also but i believe Daire Row struggling with injury, my own beloved bracks are still scratching our heads as to how we have nothing on the board, Castletown showed great character to win yesterday when on the ropes early in both halves but goals can win and loose games and that was the case yesterday, saying that they have in my opinion little hope of lifting the mattie mac, All cup finals for us now and we will get it very hard to qualify michaels seem to be improving with every game and should get out of the group, duleek/bellewstown and walterstown should qualify with limited fuss. Don't be surprised to see trim/dunderry/oldcastle/michaels in the semi finals although us bracks are still breathing and once we are still breathing we will be dangerous.

Hopefully the bracks can get back on track. Had them to win it out. Maybe blinded by bias , but sure there you go

Was at a few of the Intermediate Games over the past week or so :

Oldcastle V Ballinlough : Oldcastle are the strongest team in the IFC and are in my opinion the only club that might but be up to surviving if they made the senior grade. That does not say that they will win the IFC as they have been the strongest team in the competition for the past 2 years also. They are well coached, strong all over the pitch and have a couple of killer forwards. They also have good options off the bench. The Lough have a lot of experience and will cause plenty of problems for teams.

Michaels V Syddan game, both defences struggled big time, hard to see either featuring in the shake up if they don't sort that out. Daire Rowe has not played a minute of championship yet to score 2-16 without him will give them a boost , Kevin Traynor had a mighty game. But for the sending off Syddan would have won easily and in the end were very lucky to get out with a draw. Michaels struggled in midfield until the sending off their backs were cleaned out. Daithi Reilly is a great servant but was really exposed at centre back. They have an excellent full forward line of McDonnell, Meehan and Ciaran Lynch who if they get ball will give any team trouble. Obviously game was very open and with some great scores.

Nobber V Meath Hill : Hard came to watch and short of quality but Nobber will be very happy to have 3 points after 2 tricky games to start off with. They look solid and are playing to a clear plan, they look to have a strong bench with 3 or 4 of the replacements making an impact. They controlled the game and took better options when it came to shot selection etc. Very experienced outfit, could be in the shakeup. Thought Meath Hill showed a lack of experience at this level. Had plenty of ball but took a lot of poor options. But in saying that they will have plenty to say about how this group pans out, they are young raw and never give in

Intermediate is wide open with Meath Hill, Ballinlough, Nobber, Oldcastle, Castletown, Trim, Ballinabrackey, Dunderry, Duleek/Bellewstown, Walterstown and Black Hall all still with realistic expectations of qualifying out of their groups going into the second last round. I'll go for Ballinlough, Nobber, Oldcastle, Castletown, Trim, Ballinabrackey, Dunderry, Duleek and Walterstown to qualify.

Suprising result for Meath Hill over Oldcastle. Meath Hill improved alot or Oldcastle missing players? Ballinabracky a dangerous team on form if they win last two games.

Meath Hill have been on an impressive upward curve the last few years. I'd usually doubt teams like that but after seeing the heights curraha have reached anything is possible.

Was at Trim v St Michaels this evening, trim inside line very impressive in first half and will take handling going forward, St Michaels caused plenty of problems though for trim in second half, trim no 10 showed a real lack.of manners when a St michaels water carrier offered him a drink he grabbed bottle and threw on ground, embarrassing stuff.

Looking like Nobber and Oldcastle through from Group A with the winner of Meath Hill and Ballinlough in Rd 5 joining them.

In Group B Castletown and Trim are qualified with the winner of Rd 5 tie finishing top of the group. Winner of Michaels and Bracks to get the 3rd qualification spot.

Walterstown look like they will top group C with 2 of Dunderry, Blackhall and Duleek/Bellewstown joining them.

Who will take home Mattie McDonnell this year is very very hard to call, I look forward to watching it unfold!

If i was the opposing team i would have him on the pitch everytime as it was the only time he had anything in his hands, he compensated for his lack of football with a lack of manners.

Is the format the same as last year? 3rd place in group A qualifies automatically and 3rd place in B & C play a preliminary quarter final????
