Replying To Barney123:  "But McCarthy isn't on the Meath panel. How many of his scores come from frees.

I'm not saying Beano isn't good, he has been Kells most consistent player in the last number of years

Peader Byrne had a great year at club level last year but does that mean he should have been on the county panel?"
Using peadar is a weak argument he is over that stage of game.but Mcarthy kicks frees the same as Beano.I'm talking bout realistic players ready to slot into an athletic environment with pace and willing and able to go round backs kick scores are an option for frees.my argument is yes Mcarthy is option but so is other players showing good form to.

Some fascinating games coming up this weekend and next, going into the break with 2 wins and you have a one foot in the knockout stages, going in to the break with 2 defeats and you're in big trouble. I've done a few draws in the Cortown Prediction Forecast this week: https://www.meathgaapredictions.com

I'm thinking draw match local derby with not much between the teams on this one.
Fire power on both sides is formidable. Could b a cracker

Bhulf Tón Clg V St Peter's, Dunboyne - Dunboyne to win but not by much.

St. Colmcille's V Simonstown - Another tight game - I expect Cilles to be better than last round at the back - could be close but think S'Town will edge it

CurrahaV Na Fianna CLG - Curraha were better than I expected against the holders. Na Fianna got a really importnat win against Cilles - I think Na Fianna will win this one!

Rathkenny V Longwood - Both teams were disappointing in the first round and couldn't ask for a better fixture in the second. The standard mightn't be great but I think this could be a cracker! Rathkenny by a few!

Ratoath V Donaghmore/Ashbourne - Ratoath had a comprehensive win over a poor Longwood - Don/Ash had a good win over a real championship contender in Summerhill. Apart from McGill, Ratoath missing their big guns! Don/Ash to prevail!

Summerhill V Moynalvey - I think Summerhill are a good outfit and I had expected them to contend - but I have a funny feeling on this one! I think Moynalvey will sneak this one! They were very good against Rathkenny and have a better squad than I realised!

Navan O'Mahonys V Skryne - NOM to win this one with a bit to spare - especially if Skyrne are missing young Smyth at wing back as they were against Pat's!

St Patrick's v Gaeil Colmcille - Can't see Pat's scoring enough to cause Kells much trouble. GC to win by a decent margin!

Dushaughlin GAA V Seneschalstown GFC - Dunshaughlin were good against Kells and unlucky not to get something out of that game. They have a few young lads who will have benefited from that run. I expect them to just about edge this one!

Wolfe Tones v St Peters Dunboyne - Will Tones have their injured players back for this? If they do I fancy them to sneak it. Verdict: Tones by 1-3 points.

St Colmcilles V Simonstown - Cilles must shore up their defence or else they've no chance. Leaked three goals against Na Fianna. Verdict: Simonstown by 4-6 points.

Curraha v Na Fianna - Curraha put in a credible effort against Dunboyne the last day but will be found wanting again. Verdict: Na Fianna by 4-6 points.

Rathkenny v Longwood - Two teams that will be smarting after a nightmare start in Group B. Longwood are way out of their depth though. Verdict: Rathkenny by 4-6 points.

Ratoath v Donaghmore/Ashbourne - Ahearne took up the scoring mantle for Ratoath in the absence of McMahon and the Wallaces against Longwood. He won't be afforded much breathing space in this derby. Verdict: Draw.

Summerhill v Moynalvey - Moynalvey are a different side this year. Three Harnans back fully fit, Cillian O'Sullivan the best forward in the county at the moment and David McLoughlin on the bench. Summerhill aren't playing well. Verdict: Moynalvey 1-3 points.

Navan O'Mahonys v Skryne - Niall McKeigue v Paddy O'Rourke will be an interesting duel on Saturday. Both sides were unconvincing in their opening round wins. Verdict: Draw.

St Patricks v Gaeil Colmcille - Pats will make it difficult for Gaeil Colmcille but you'd expect the Kells men to see it through. Verdict: Gaeil Colmcille 4-6 points.

Dunshaughlin v Seneschalstown - Both teams will view this game as a massive opportunity to get two points. Verdict: Dunshaughlin 1-3 points.

Eoin Lynch and Damien Healy are huge losses to Longwood, they just don't have the strength in depth to cope with those lads being injured.

Could be a long year for the club as they will struggle in Group A of the SHC too without those two.

Are they both out for the season? I thought Lynch could be a useful addition for the county footballers this year.

Disagree with a lot of your predictions..

Dunboyne V Wolf Tones - Dunboyne will have far too much for Tones

Ratoath v Ashbourne - Ashbourne will ease pass a much weakened Ratoath team who are missing too many of their big guns, Ashbourne beat a well-seasoned Summerhill team and look the real deal this year under Gabriel Brannigan.

Summerhill v Moynalvey - People writing off Summerhill already after one loss? Moynalvey beat a desperately poor Rathkenny team.. Moynalvey didn't even get out of a weak group last year and Summerhill have contested the last two county finals, no chance of a shock here - Summerhill easily by 6+ points

NOM v Skryne - O'Mahonys will beat a poor Skryne team who look like they have missed their chance of competing at the business end of the Senior Championship. Skryne only stumbled over St. Pats

Dunboyne V Wolfe Tones. This has got to be a tight game. There is plenty the other night to suggest Tones will ask plenty of questions of Dunboyne. The Lights in Paddy O'Brien park were terrible and must have contributed to some serious wides. This will go to the wire . Perhaps Tones to cause a shock

Colmcilles V Simonstown. The Cilles played quite well the last day but their achilles heel is their defence . They employed loads of men behind the ball last year and they got to the Quarter Final and put on a fine show against Summerhill. Simonstown looked red hot in opening quarter other night and hit crossbars and had loads of wides. Had they scored they were out of sight on the Tones. Going very well in League and whilst St Colmcilles have firepower up front, they need to stop shipping goals. Think Navan boys will be too hot and will win

Curraha V Na Fianna
Walshe is a talent for Na Fianna. Caused St Colmcilles all sorts of problems. Curraha ran Dunbonye to 5 points. Feel this will be close. Na Fianna are decent without being contenders. Their 1st and last goal the last day was as much to chronic bad defending of aerial ball as it was good play from Na Fianna. Feel Curraha might cause a mild upset here. Could end up a draw.

Rathkenny V Longwood. Rathkenny got tanked last day, Longwood got murdered. Based on this Rathkenny can still play poor but they will beat Longwood.

Ratoath V Ashbourne. I did not see Ratoath V Longwood but sure the opposition was so bad Ratoath could have played with 10 men and won. So no form to guide us. Ashbourne I seen last year and they were toothless up front and employed loads of men behind the ball. I seen them in League this year and they still look toothless up front. They beat Summerhill I appreciate in Round 1 but unless they found new players or Summerhill had loads missing I am going to shoot for Ratoath. Cant see this Ashbourne team having become a serious contender overnight.

Summerhill V Moynalvey. If Summerhill can lose to Ashbourne then they can lose to Moynalvey. However full out and finger out they will beat Moynalvey

O Mahonys V Skyrne. Skyrne going bad. Struggled to beat St Pats who are also going bad. O Mahonys were just ok V Seneschalstown. The new Mayo or Galway chap is good and put a gloss on them the last day but the Furze were jogging miles behind their forwards and Stephen Bray had all the time in world to kick scores. 2nd Half Seneschalstown exposed the O Mahonys at the back and marked tighter themselves. Skyrne at themselves would put it up to the Navan Boys. NOM are going well in League but they have played a fair few of the poorer teams. I would question the form coming into this game. NOM to win but it could be very close

St Pats V Gael Colmcille - Kells to win . Did not see these teams the last day but from what I hear they Where not great against Dunshaughlin and too dependent on Beano. Pats will huff and puff but wont blow this house down.

Dunshaughlin V Seneschalstown . Again I heard Black and Amber played quite well V Kells , but Kells from all accounts were fairly poor on the night and made Dunshaughlin look better than they are. That said the Dunshaughlin boys will take encouragement from that performance and will be favourites here. However Seneschalstown were good when they finally decided to mark tight and attack the NOM last day. This will be a lot tighter that one would think. Draw for me as the Furze can improve

Senior:
Wolf tones vs St. Peter's dunboyne
Dunboyne should have to much for a tones team missing a few key players. I expect the running power in dunboynes middle 8 to be to much for the tones to handle with the like of Finn, Lavin, McCoy, mcentees & Doran causing trouble with on and off the ball runs. I feel that they lack inside scorers with McCarthy there only real option and I'd expect Harrington to try and do a man marking job on him as he seems to be the tones go to man for marking the oppositions key forwards. One area in which I feel the tones could get joy would be quick ball into that dangerous full forwards line of the 2 wards and Saran as they are s handful for any team in there day, I'm going for dunboyne by 4 or 5

St Colmcilles vs Simonstown
This could be a great game but expect Simonstown to have to much for a weak cilles defence. The three cilles amigos of Brennan, Reilly and conlon provide a real treat to any defence with there speed and power. Just think that there defence is there Achilles heel and will let them down in this game, Simonstown by 5

Curraha vs nafianna
I expect a an Fianna win from a side that plays an attractive brand of football with Walsh, Downey & queeney leading there attack, they play with one sweeper and the rest of the team attack and defend as a unit. Curraha but up a good performance against dunboyne but expect them to struggle to win many games at this level while missing a few key players, an Fianna by 4

Rathkenny vs Longwood
This has a relegation game written all over it as I'd expect one of these sides to be coming down to the intermidate championship next year, Longwood got a hammering at the hands of an under strength Ratoath side while rathkenny got bet by 9 by Moynalvey. I expect rathkenny to have way to much experience at this level for a poor Longwood side, rathkenny by 7+

Summerhill vs Moynalvey
Hill will get over a decent Moynalvey side and bounce back from a opening day defeat, there one of the most consistent sides and will beat a decent Moynalvey side by a few scores, the key players for the hill that will need to perform to get them over the line are Dardis, dalton, Shaw while Moynalvey will be hoping that o Sullivan and the Harnans can inspire them to an unlikely win, hill by 3

O Mahoney vs Skryne
I Expect a close game with o Mahoney just edging it, there winning momentum will get them over the line against a Skryne side capavle of causing and upset, Skryne will be looking to expose the lack of pace in the o Mahoney defence, o Mahoney by 4

St pats vs Gael Colmcille
Kells will win here but I expect st pats to put up a good fight as there always capable of causing a big upset, Hanlon and Mattimoe to be to hot to handle for the pats defence, kells by 5

Dunshaughlin vs senchelstown
Dunshaughlin got a good result the first day against kells while senchelstown lost by a few to o Mahoneys, expect this to be a close game with Dunshaughlin winning by a few scores, Dunshaughlin by 2-4

St Colmcilles v Simonstown - I expect goals here and lots of them. Both a quick fast teams who like to move the ball at pace. Colmcilles didn't look as if they had 3 inter county forwards and their full back line is very suspect. Crouchy will cause the Colmcilles full back line problems which was their undoing against Na Fianna and I think it will be same thing here. Simonstown by 4-6

Bhulf Ton v St Peters Dunboyne - Tones looked weak at the back the last night and if they don't get a few lads back they could be in trouble. Expected Dunboyne to walk it against Curraha hut they got a stern test which might be a wake up call. Dunboyne by 1-3

Navan O'Mahonys v Skryne - Could Skryne take the drop this year, surely not. I think O Mahonys will kick on and get through this round without too much fuss. O Mahonys by 4-6

Rathkenny v Longwood - To decide 5th and 6th place more than likely. Longwood have a couple of injuries so I fancy Rathkenny by 4-6

Ratoath v Donaghmore/Ashbourne - This is going to be a huge step up for Ratoath, just don't see them making it. Ashbourne by 1-3

Summerhill v Moynalvey - If O Sullivan brings what he did against Rathkenny then I would fancy them but I think the Aintree celebrations could have been in a few Summerhill minds which won't be the case here and Summerhill will by 4-6

Curraha v Na Fianna - Na Fianna are a balanced team and would be my dark horses on what I seen against Colmcilles. They're big, powerful and athletic plus Shane Walsh is an ideal corner forward.

St. Patricks vs Kells - Mattimoe and Hanlon are a different gravy. I can't see Pat's causing any shocks in the championship especially not here. Kells by +7

Dunshaughlin vs Seneschalstown - Tie of the round here. Dunshaughlin are up and coming, playing with no fear while Seneschalstown are heading in the opposite direction. Experience could be key here for Seneschalstown but both are currently at each others level and I'll go with a draw here.
