2019 Meath Hurling Predictions

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

The best of luck to the hurlers and management I hope it is a great weekend for Meath both in the hurling and football.

As for the fixtures this is one of the advantages been part of Meath Co Board be it on fixtures committee or CCCC that you may get matches in your club. Rathmoylon pitch is in great condition I was at underage match there recently and at camogie games also. The grounds man there takes having the grounds to heart and it is a credit to him.

Best of luck all as they Hurling Championship begin next week hope it is a great championship and I am predicting Trim are the dark horses for 2019 - they have a great crop of young lads at the moment and very focused they will be the one's to knock Kiltale of the 6 In A Row trail. It has to happen at some stage.

I would consider ratoath a better side than trim by a fraction and i think the fact that trim in the b group wont do them any favours when it gets to knock out , both those two teams are getting stronger every year and its great to see

If i was to rank the likely winners it would be;
1 Kiltale
2 Ratoath
3 Kildalkey
Trim probably next but will still have work cut out because NaFianna and Kilmessan make for a stronger B section than last year.
Clan na nGael for the Intermediate but one of second teams Kildalkey or Trim could go very well

Foley91 I totally agree why is he Refereeing this game. For several reasons 1 he has not refereed all year. 2he manages a number of these lads. 3 these teams are in the same division as his own club. Never before have I seen this and I'm a long time looking at hurling.
On another point why have we a referee from Louth, Offaly, Kildare and Dublin doing game's in Meath.

Are Rathmolyon's "brand new dressing rooms" in addition to the ones they built about ten years ago, or are they the same and I just have a different definition of "brand new"?

He is a good ref for sure and we are very short on refs in the county
But if he is going to ref why has he been appointed a game in a group with his own club involved ?
Very strange , any of the senior b games he could have done or inter group a

So what some posters are trying to get at is that he is going to try to influence the game somehow to help his own club??
Some very deluded people on these forms! maybe this game needs a strong ref as it should be a very physical game, what other ref would people suggest??
Maybe if clubs in the county actually supplied referees to the county board we would have more of a pick and wouldn't have to be going outside of the county to look for people to cover games.

Great for Rathmolyon to get some games, only the snobs on here would complain about this!!

I have already said he is a good ref. Whilst he is the county manager it is more the fact he is actively involved and is on the sideline for kildalkey games. Surely common sense would have been to give him games in the other group.

So is it the fact that hes Meath manager or the fact that hes a Kildalkey club man? Also hes not a selector with Kildalkey as far as i am aware so why would he be on the line. Agree that it would have made more sense to give him a game in the other group but it looks like county board dont trust their other refs to take this game.

I think you're the deluded one. He has not refereed a game all year. How can you access his ability as a referee. There are plenty of games he could have done not one in his clubs group. As for the comment about strong referees. Martin Bartley,Conor Ferguson, Gerry O'Brien, could have done this game. I don't see them down for any game.
The reason he is getting it is because the man appointing referees is from Kildalkey
