Blow for GAA as Government decide to extend current attendance restrictions

The number of people allowed attend GAA matches will stay at 200 for at least three more weeks.
It was hoped that crowds of up to 500 would be permitted to attend GAA matches from next Monday, August 10. But following a Cabinet meeting today, the Government has decided to further delay the country's move into Phase Four of the roadmap for reopening.
The current restrictions of 200 at outdoor gatherings and 50 indoors is being extended until the end of this month as the Government continues to hold a review of measures every three weeks with the advice of the National Public Health Emergency Team (NPHET).
The news comes as a blow to GAA clubs and county boards as an increase in numbers would help them meet the demand in tickets from supporters.
Only 200 people including players, mentors, officials, stewards and members of the press are permitted to attend GAA matches in the Republic of Ireland since the GAA's return to play on June 29.
In Northern Ireland, crowds of up to 400 have been allowed at outdoor sporting events.
