'The league is too important for experimenting'

Meath manager Andy McEntee

Meath manager Andy McEntee has voiced his opposition to the proposed football rule changes being trialled in next year's Allianz League.

Central Council will decide next weekend if changes relating to the mark, sin bin, handpass, sideline kick and kickout will be experimented in the upcoming pre-season competitions and the Allianz League.

Speaking to the Irish Independent at last night's launch of the Sean Cox charity match between Meath and Dublin in Pairc Tailteann on December 16, McEntee commented: "My concern about implementing these new rules in the league is that it makes the league a bit of an experiment. Are you going to take a chance and play around with a really important competition?

"I have no problem with doing it in the O'Byrne Cup or friendlies or whatever, but the league is too important for experimenting."
