Michael Brothers of The Ferns, Blackrock was born in New Ross but moved to Dundalk when The Great Northern Brewery (Harp Ireland) was built in 1960. As well as a keen rower, he was an accomplished hurler before leaving the Model County and represented Wexford at senior level.
