Banter is fine but some of the accusations against players and money on this site borders on libel. Glad to see it being called out by admin

The Corona Virus And Possible Effects To GAA Matches - 9 Like(s)

Replying To bloodyban:  "The rest of Europe is living with Covid and not cancelling Sport. If we go by the 'safety over everything' people then we should have no sport ever. The flu kills more people than Covid...We are going to look like clowns after all this. Covid is with us for good..start adjusting and living, not running scared 24/7 . Are we looking for a special medal to be struck again like the embarrassing one for the best soccer fans at Euro whatever it was. Ireland is the Best Covid boy in the class. He doesn't even go outside his house...Heres a badge made of tinfoil.."
The flu doesnt kill more than Covid

The Corona Virus And Possible Effects To GAA Matches - 7 Like(s)

Replying To rossno1:  "I totally agree and I see some comments on here slamming the president for asking for the limit to be increased to 500 for games where it is possible to social distance. Do they not realise that he is being guided by his own team that includes medical experts. I cannot understand how anyone would condemn him for this. If you take the players and management out of the 200 you are only talking about 100 spectators at the most which is absolutely ridiculous. I believe he was correct to ask as it was safe to do so."
If GAA HQ came out with a cute for covid there's some on here would still try claim it was the wrong thing to do

Useless Fact Of The Day... - 6 Like(s)

Replying To OLLIE:  "Dublin are the only team to play London and the 31 other counties in the Championship. Twelve of these teams have never beaten the Dubs in the Championship. These are Antrim, Cavan, Clare, Fermanagh, Kilkenny, Leitrim, London, Monaghan, Roscommon, Sligo, Waterford and Wicklow. Limerick is the only team that the Dubs have never beating in the Championship. No team has beating the Dubs more times in the Championship than Meath have with twenty wins."
Only way they could win the 5 in a row was by avoiding Limerick

I hate that saying. If your argument is right you should win and it shouldn't matter a damn whether or not some snob doesn't like your language

We Are Fortunate To See It. - 6 Like(s)

Replying To TheHermit:  "Fortunate to see what exactly? Never before seen dominance by a county, engineered by the powers that be, to become a semi professional outfit in a still amateur sport? And how many potential rivals are going to the wall financially in a vain attempt to keep up with the riches bestowed on one before all others. Sorry but all this decade has shown is that inter county football as we know it is on deaths door and the GAA's response? Never mind the blue elephant in the room, look here's a tier 2 competition for the also rans...."

Counties Missed Opportunities.... - 6 Like(s)

Replying To brian:  "Awwwwwwweeeee some one is a bit delicate cos they can't handle the current state of football. Just to respond to you, the point of the thread is about missed opportunities. In the last 9 years Kerry haven't been close to Dublin to have had missed opportunities. On your own points 1) Who's trolling and stirring the pot. Kerry posters have a penchant of turning every thread into a how Kerry have been mistreated and Dublin get everything. Do you forget that there's huge money going into Kerry football by Kerry Group every year!!! Compared to any other county in the land you've the biggest sponsorship deals outside of Dublin and Glanbia (Kilkenny in Hurling) Its your own fault you can't capitalise on that huge pot of gold you have. 2) You're replies are monotenous and always the same poor mouth, us Kerry folks are not getting enough blah blah. What right have you to tell anyone to get back in their box other than the usual Kerry thing of looking down their nose at everyone. 3) You got jumped on cos you deserve it. Your points are always the same boring BS. Don't address me as your friend. If i'd friends like you i wouldn't need enemies. You highlight the GAA's blatant favouritism of the Dubs every day and your vinyl record is scratched to the back of beyonds. Change your tune. Why should i jog on? If any counties have a right to cry foul about the Dubs its the 10 other football playing counties in Leinster but we're made of tougher stuff up here and just get on with things. We deal with our own house first rather than complaining about the emperor's new clothes. Stockholm syndrome ;) yep that made me LOL. And the deafult kerry response from you and other posters is to slag off other counties and say what have you won. I beat you to the punch it by saying we've nothing to be talking about. Anything else you'd like to whinge and moan about??? I'm here all day."

As always it's the "what have your county won" post.

The Corona Virus And Possible Effects To GAA Matches - 5 Like(s)

Replying To Lockjaw:  "Yeah I was, and am, highly critical of the complete and utter fiasco that the national broadband plan became/is. As usual, the entire process was beset with the usual cronyism, corruption and pettiness. It became a political football, years have been lost and God knows how much it has all cost thus far. If this virus has taught us anything it's that most people are highly adaptive and receptive to change when a situation dictates it. If we did have a modern, ubiquitous national broadband infrastructure the benefits could transform this country profoundly I think. - no longer would our young graduates and existing professional people be required to live and work in the bigger cities. Regional tech hubs/WFH options could completely replace that requirement. - this would alleviate the chronic housing/rent crisis in Dublin - commuting becomes a thing of the past = less stress on people and the added benefit of less traffic on the road = Ireland's carbon footprint being reduced. - regional villages/towns which for years have been decimated by unemployment/emigration can be rejuvenated. If more people have the ability to work remotely, settle and bring up families etc, then they'll obviously contribute more to their local economies. Your tradesmen, local shops, pubs and nightclubs etc, the list goes on can all benefit. The cynic in me thinks that successive governments aren't all that fussed about remedying the housing crisis in Dublin and the likes, given that a lot of them are landlords themselves. But here, we'll not go down that path...."
It's not just governments. Everyone wants to see the housing crisis sorted untill you remind them that building loads of affordable housing will bring down the price of their own house

Things That Seemed Ridiculous At Start Of Decade That Actually Happened - 5 Like(s)

Replying To TheHermit:  "We won't change, we'll still be sending out great teams, great players to compete and win, and win the right way - long after your county is split in twain or more. And in a brief moment of contemplation (if someone of your base level of intellect is capable of such a feat) you might wonder whether a few titles won the way you were allowed win them really was worth destroying Dublin as a single county identity. Because with the way all factors are going, the split of Dublin is inevitable... I don't want to see that happen but what choice will the GAA have unless they think the GAA community at large will stomach 9 or 10 in a row."
Kerry still has the most football AIs won overall so why are we not splitting Kerry. Why were they not split after 4 in a row

GAA County Player Transfers - 5 Like(s)

Replying To Foley91:  "Only players who play for club in the county should qualify for that county. Its not right that players transfer to Dublin clubs and are still allowed to represent their county. Its a kick in the face to players who stayed loyal to their clubs and the ethos of the GAA. 1 club. year after year the club and county divide is increasing with all emphasis being put on the county teams which is resulting in club players becoming completely disheartened."
Utterly rediculous idea. So many people in Ireland have to move to Dublin for work and not all of them have a job that allows for time to be driving home every few days for games and training. Concider how hard it would be for someone who doesnt work a 9 to 5 and doesnt own a car why should he have to sit at home on the dole just to represent his county

Replying To Marlon_JD:  "Well, I don't, do you? You sneered at plight of people in the six counties in your response to GreenandRed, and then you used the plight of people in the six counties to try to make, well, lets call it a "point" for the sake of civil discourse, in your response to me. So thats a little unclear."
I didn't sneer at the plight of people from the 6 counties. I just sneer at the idea going around that supporting BLM means forgetting about or ignoring problems in white areas.

I don't agree with the difference between relegation rules in the 2 provinces but let's not pretend Kerry are innocent victims here as they try their best to pull ladders up all over the place in Munster football
