Tyrone manager Mickey Harte says Saturday night’s Round 4 clash with Monaghan in Omagh has taken on “a new significance”.
The Red Hands need a victory to move away from the relegation zone, while their Farney neighbours know that a third loss will see Harte’s men leapfrog them and leave them hovering around the bottom end of the table.
The bookies have the home side as slight favourites (4/5) and Harte accepts his side are more desperate for the points.
“It was always going to be a massive game, and always is a massive game between us and Monaghan anyway, but I think it takes on a new significance now,” the three-time All-Ireland winning boss is quoted saying by The Irish News.
“They are chasing points the same as ourselves. We need them more obviously, so it's our home venue, and we need to be trying to make sure that we take points at home now.”
He added: “There's no easy job here, points are hard to come by, but we'll do our best to try and get enough to keep us up.”
