Ciaran Kilkenny says he's "absolutely buzzing" ahead of Dublin's All-Ireland senior football championship opener against Wicklow on Sunday.

Jim Gavin's side are set to start their Sam Maguire Cup defence in Portlaoise as a whopping 1/500 favourites over the Garden men and Kilkenny says he's relishing the new challenge of this year's campaign.

"I'm absolutely buzzing. You look at it as a new and fresh challenge. It's a new year with a new format and every year brings a new challenge and excitement," the Castleknock ace is quoted saying by GAA.ie

"If we're fortunate enough to get there (All-Ireland Quarter-Final series), the thoughts of going on the road to play one of those matches at another venue is really exciting for us and the supporters as well to go to a different part of the country.

"It's just all really positive at the moment."
