Ok here is my second attempt at this, my team would be as follows Shane Ryan, Peter crowley, Jason Foley, Tom Sullivan, Gavin Crowley, Paul Murphy, Gavin White, Jack Barry, Jack Sherwood, Michael Burns, Seanie Shea, Stephen o' Brien, James o'donoghue, Paul Geaney, David, Clifford. I think we will give it a good rattle this year the league will bring these young lads on a lot they will not be afraid of anybody. I believe all the work has started now especially on defense and hopefully now our coaches will have time to get the work in as i think there wasnt much done up to now with all the games every week.

Yea great to see o'donoghue back hope he stays fully fit we need him yea forgot about murphy maybe he is resting him also Enright and paul geaney or alan fitzgerald not mentioned either. I think they should keep playing obeaglaoi and Sullivan anyway would like to see more of adrian spillane and savage but don't get why barry john keane is starting at all as we know by now what he can do and somebody else should be getting a run. I would also leave Griffin at fullback why mess with that position now it took a long time to find anybody to play there. Anyway there is so many more yet to come back after the club games.

I think Sherwood plays midfield for his club though the experiment of playing Griffin there didnt work out but i think Sherwood is a better ball handler. I know I liked him an fullback too but how much time did he spend in there most games he was out he field and both these positions are very important right now and coach Buckley will have his work cut out for him to solve our defense problems. Even with all the good players he had in mayo the fullback position was their weakest link.

Well if anything last night showed us we are still a good bit back on fitness and physicality stakes . I know the weather was a factor but we were bullied out of it by a bigger and seasoned team and i think donie Buckley will have some work to do from now to summer with out tackling and positioning of the backline. We know he's a good coach but those big physical mayo boys made his job easier and apart from morley and crowley we really are light at the back. I keep saying it the fullback is the one position that we have a problem with and we better get it sorted soon hope Sherwood will be back as he looked good there for a while. I am with horsebox on him being an option at midfield i think he would be perfect partner for Barry a bit like McCarthy does for Dublin but the number 3 position continues to be the problem as we haven't had a natural fullback since Barry oshea over twenty years ago.

Well people its been a while since I posted on here although I love to go on here and comment but i'm not the best at the ol typing. It was nice to see a game finally and check out how our lads are doing. I was happy enough with the display and was impressed how our fitness is and how our young lads have filled out. Have to say our backs looked dodgy enough again and monaghan could have scored at least two goals even though we dominated the game they got it down to three points in the end but we should have put it away earlier. It was good to see peter crowley back and they all need that game i think we will see the same team starting this week. Gavin white has improved so much and when he goes forward now he either scores or makes better decisions than he did before and hope they keep him at halfback. Diarmuid oconnor too has developed a lot in a year even though he is still very raw he has so much potential and i think him an Jack will make a great partnership. Does anyone know how old Joe o connor is saw him playing for stacks and he looks the part thought they could have brought him on for Moran in the second half as I have no idea why bringing on Lyne is being the league and all we need to try a few new lads.The forwards played well even though first time playing together i too like Burns he does a lot of running but needs to make better decisions. We have to score goals that is our biggest downfall they are trying to bring the ball too far in and need to go for goals a little further out. Anyway thats enough from me hope ye are all staying safe.

well now that the crokes are gone do ye think dathai casey should get another chance he would add strength and speed to the half forward line or even cover for midfield. he would also help out Seanie as I think there is too much pressure on him with the likes of young moynihan gavin obrien and young o'connor very inexperienced lads playing on the same line. Also what about fionn was he not marking corrofin best forward Ian Burke and kept him scoreless. i dont think myself playing Dublin in league final would help either I thought after beating them two years ago we concentrated on them too much after that final.

I said it after the tralee game that we arent strong enough not seasoned like mayo yet hopefully we will learn more like they say. That is not a bad Mayo team people they gave the dubs enough of it a couple of times and now the have new young lads now and are giving them more speed up front. You have to remember they won the minors in 2013 before our five in a row and had five or six of that team starting today. That game today will be rewound a good few times in the next couple of weeks and a lot will be learned. Giving away those goals was criminal at this level once again our best forward playing in full back and not a back in sight and also for the last goal.

Happy belated new year everybody sorry i'm later to the party again. Great win today nice to see the young lads playing so well seems to be jumping at the bit all trying to make an impression. Its all about development now no looking over their shoulder waiting for the gooch a donnaghy or an o'shea. I think we have a team of good coaches too now in place too which is very important , people that know their stuff and are up to date with the modern game and tactics as well but lets not get carried away with one game.

Replying To TheHermit: "Hope Clifford is ok, I said during the week it was tough going on a young lads to play 3 hard games in 6 days, we have to mind him and the others or they'll all be on the physios table by Easter" it will be Easter probably before we know what's wrong with Clifford or James. Sorry I've been away off site too for a while but its great to be back watching football again especially after the way we bowed out last year. Its great to see the young lads playing and doing so well so far. I know its only the league but I like what I see and I hope fitzy will stick with these for a while and give a few more a run as well. Early days yet but I like the look of some of these young lads they are mad for road as they say. Even though the game has changed I have said it here a few time if I was starting a team I would have a strong line down the middle and I think Foley looks the real deal and gavin Crowley also has impressed me and with Sean oshea at center forward and Geaney full I would build around those four lads. I agree with Horsebox the likes of moran Darren walsh buckley can walk and thanks for the memories and also I will say this one time we don't need donnaghy or barry john either anywhere near that team. We won the league last year without him and Fitzmaurice had to bring him back and to me he's only slowing down the process, they play way nicer brand of football without him. That's my opinion I could be wrong but what do I know maybe he helps inside training maybe they think he's a leader but that is what I see.

Have to agree with you on this it is a tough one my favorite player was Mikey Sheehy he was deadly but ill go out on a limb here I think young Clifford will be better than any of them. He has everything speed ,good hands, fast hands a cross between gooch and Maurice if he keeps improving and if he stays around he will be something else. Looking forward to seeing him this year.

Yea you are right about strength and conditioning we are lacking something in that department all right the dubs are definitely doing something right and mayo as well. I been saying it for a while why does it take our lads so long to develop I mean look at jack savage for example he is what 22 or 23 does he look like he is fully developed like say O'Callaghan today don't think so. I also noticed you know we say we wanted that game last week as we were rusty and needed a game why is it that dubs are never rusty and they haven't played anybody either all year and they are ready to play whoever they are playing. There is something wrong somewhere or else we don't have the players but I don't believe that look at the league final you had shannahan starting corner back and didn't look out of place there was jack barry Savage and McCarthy ant young gavin Crowley came on and did very well. . I like the job Peter Keane is doing with the minors they look like a well coached team all over the field he took over from Jack o connor and hasn't missed a beat.

As much as I liked Sherwood at fullback I think he is an outfield player and would love to see him in the middle of the field he has too much pace and he would be the perfect guy to help for Barry . Yes i like Clifford at center forward also he would strengthen that line as I think its our weakest line or he could play 10 or 12 and leave seanie at center. We have to run at teams more than we do and our best forward cannot be the last line of defense like what happened against mayo.

No big surprise on team selection with Foley injured Shanahan comes in with tom sullivan keeping his place. Griffin in fullback and crowley center back. A little worrying even though Griffin has been there a while that line never played together before big pressure on them now against a very good monaghan full forward line. Good to see gavin crowley and morley on the bench.

Well people after last sunday's debacle all i hear is donnaghy has to play and he should have been brought in and this and that and I'm thinking is that all we have left now. The man is thirty five years old for god sake he didnt play one minute in the league and the last game he played for us was taken out of it by aidan oshea of all people. I know why everyone wants him to play he probably can still do it but I think its time to move on now and stick with the team we have and leave the young lads learn and they will if we stick with them even though i'm wondering lately if Eamon is the right man for the job. Last sunday wasnt his greatest day on the sideline again in croke park left it way too late to bring on subs. And then he brings on barry john and donnacha of all people I mean does he have anything left now seriously. The last few years to me he looks done and doesnt have anything left in those legs.

Was only throwing it out there about tommy wasnt serious about it but if he can't turn in a car park he has no business in full forward either. No doubt he was great before he left for oz but it might be too little too late. James really needs to play he needs game time and a few hard games pity Gavin crowley isn't fit he needs games too college games are not the same as intercounty. i think they will all the young lads will get a good run as really that's what the league is all about.

I would go with Barry at midfield in the hope he can limit Fenton's influence. He is our best hope for doing this as he has done it well in the past. I think we will need to start Sherwood at wing back as Enright or Beaglaoich wouldn't be able to match Howard athletically or physically respectively. White over Beaglaoich at wing forwaed because I think he is more comfortable there than Beaglaoich. The matchups I would then be thinking with this team are:
Foley on Rock,
Morley on O'Callaghan,
O'Sullivan on Mannion,
Murphy on Scully,
Crowley on Kilkenny,
Sherwood on Howard,
Barry on Fenton,
White on McCaffrey.
Thoughts?" Good team there I would make two changes I would hold Sherwood in reserve and would start Enright instead just for the experience alone I think he would do ok on Howard and also I would start o"beaglaioch wing forward as he can score better than White and would keep mcCaffrey busy. The only problem is White is the captain so he probably get the nod. I think I'm getting more confident the closer we get to the bid day. If our backs improve and tighten up back there we will give it a good try and it might be closer than people think.

We need somebody like sugrue to take over the u20's and even have Buckley do some of the coaching as well and keep him around full time. Looking at the games last weekend the dubs of course have some good player coming up again and tyrone also and of course Cork looked really strong again should be a good final this weekend. We need to have a few of those lads coming on the senior panel but apart from donal osullivan Horan and o mahoney i wasn't impressed.
