The eyesore that is the stand at Tuam Stadium will soon be no more thanks to the generosity of local businessman and avid GAA supporter Joe O’Toole.

Mr O’Toole, who is owner of SuperValu in Tuam, has agreed to foot the bill for a new roof on the hayshed-style stand as well as for seating for 1,700 spectators.

The revamped stand will complement the four new dressing rooms which are nearing completion and the reinstatement of terracing. This work is being undertaken by the Development Advocates for Tuam Stadium (DAFTS) who are continuing their fundraising drive with a major draw taking place at the end of the month.
