The news that Wexford full back Liam Ryan suffered a severe injury took a twist when his club manager suggested it happened at county training.

Ryan suffered a broken bone in his foot and it was initially thought that it happened with his club Rapparees.

However, in an interview with Wexford Today, Rapparees manager Padge Walsh said the injury happened with the county.

"We're in big trouble," explained Walsh. "Liam is in big trouble at the minute, he's on crutches and has a boot on his foot. He picked up an injury doing something with the county team or something.”

Intercounty training is not permitted until September 14 with no insurance cover in place for players who suffer injury while involved in group intercounty training before that date.
