Fermanagh SFC: Tough opener for defending champions

August 15, 2018

Derrygonnelly captain Ryan Jones lifts the New York Cup as his side claim a three-in-a-row of Fermanagh SFC titles.

Derrygonnelly's quest for a fourth Fermanagh senior football championship title in a row begins next weekend.

The defending champions are faced with a tough opener as they take on their fiercest rivals Roslea in the quarterfinal.

There is no room for error in the championship as just eight teams battle it out for the New York Cup.

The other three quarterfinals take place this weekend and sees Tempo take on Erne Gaels, Teemore face Devenish and Ederney play Belcoo.

Derrygonnelly are favourites at 4/6 with Roslea their closest rivals at 9/2. Third favourites Ederney are nicely priced at 13/2 alongside Devenish, while Erne Gaels (10/1), Tempo (20/1), Teemore (22/1) and Belcoo (50/1) make up the rest of the betting.
