Niall Morgan says he is gutted for Paddy Andrews, who sustained a broken jaw in a collision with the Tyrone goalkeeper at Croke Park on Saturday night.

The Dublin forward will be out of action for six weeks following surgery to repair the damage done when Morgan caught him in the face with his shoulder in the second half of the Division One clash.

Having entered the fray as a substitute, Andrews left the field with blood flowing from his mouth and will miss Dublin’s final league game of the year against Cavan on Sunday, but should be back again in time for the championship.

“I’m obviously gutted for Paddy - a great player and a great person too,” Morgan wrote on Twitter yesterday. “And no matter what any person says - I’ve never before and never will go out to harm another player. End of story.”

Morgan also confirmed that he’d made contact with Andrews to wish him well.
