Bernard Flynn says Mayo's failure to perform against Tyrone on Sunday was worrying.

Having declared after Stephen Rochford's men defeated Kildare that Mayo had turned a corner, the former Meath attacker has now revised his appraisal of the westerners:

"The manner of the display against Tyrone on Sunday was very worrying, the likes of which I haven't seen from Mayo in years," he writes in The Irish Daily Mirror. "I took a call from a staunch Mayo fan I've known for a long time on Monday. He always exudes the positive about the team and knows his football but this time he insisted, 'Bernard, it's over.'

"Sometimes when a team is on the wane they have a dying kick and perhaps time will tell us that came against Kildare for Mayo. Certainly Mayo haven't earned the right to deliver a performance like last Sunday's and just get away with it.

"Their fringe players, who should be champing at the bit, made it clear to the Mayo supporters and management that they're not at the level."
