Roscommon boss Kevin McStay says his side "couldn't be but improving" at the moment as they gear up for their 2018 campaign.

Next season will see the Rossies looking to bounce straight back up to Division 1 of the National League before bidding to retain their Connacht SFC crown in the summer.

Tuesday night saw McStay's charges get their preparations for 2018 underway with a 2-17 to 0-19 victory over Offaly in a challenge match in Kiltoom and McStay was impressed by some of the new talent at his disposal.

"Tadgh McKenna, Ciaran Lennon, Ross Timothy and Finbar Cregg have all gone well, we're very happy with them, and Padraig Kelly scored 2-2 against Offaly so he's put his hand up as well," McStay told the Irish Daily Star.

He added: "We couldn't be but improving. The age profile we have, the work we've done and are doing, and in terms of people coming back into the group.

"I'd have to go and see a doctor if we don't show improvement. We have to be, our graph has to be going up."
