After watching Patrick Horgan send over 15 points from frees in Pairc Ui Rinn last night, joint-manager Donal Moloney acknowledged that Clare will have to improve on their discipline in defence.

“For three quarters out there, I thought we played really well,” he said to RTE Sport shortly after the whistle was blown in the 1-20 to 0-20 win for the Rebel County.

“I thought we were on top. I suppose the frees cost us a little bit. It’s something we will have to look at.”

He added: “They [conceding frees] weren’t an issue last summer. If it’s an issue, I’d rather it happened this time of year than later on in the season.

“We’ll get after that and look at what was the cause of it.”
