Down set to appoint first 'outside' manager

August 15, 2018

Down GAA are on the look out for a new senior football manager.

The appointment of a new Down senior football manager is "done and dusted" according to Shane Mulholland.

The Ballyholland clubman had declared an interest in taking over from Eamonn Burns but in a cryptic tweet this morning he revealed the Mourne County will announce the appointment of their first outside manager next week.

Current Galway coach Paddy Tally and former Mayo selector Tony McEntee were two of the names being linked with the vacancy in recent weeks that fall into that category.

Whoever takes over from Eamonn Burns will have to plan without the services of this year's captain Niall McParland for 2019.
