Clare's Michael O'Malley delivered a Man of the Match display in his hurling league debut against Cork; he's now hoping to be considered for selection against Wexford.

As Clare defeated the Rebels to maintain their 100% record, the swashbuckling new Banner County wing back even found time to storm forward and clip over two points in Ennis on Sunday, firmly putting himself in the frame for selection for this weekend's Round Four trip to Wexford Park:

"If you get a chance you have to take it," the Kilmaley clubman comments in The Irish Daily Mirror. "I'm happy enough to say that hopefully the lads will consider me now for the next day and I'll keep driving on and keep pushing on.

"There was a bit of nerves with the first game but the lads have obviously belief in me that I'm good enough to play so I just try to drive on from there and just keep my head up, even if I made a mistake, keep pushing, keep pushing, keep pushing.

"The lads around, the likes of Davy Mac [Inerney], Seadna [Morey], it's easy to play with the likes of them, Pat O'Connor behind you, Conor Cleary, great experience there so it's easy play with lads like them.

"We got to the Munster final with Kilmaley and my hurling was up to scratch because of that. Lads maybe weren't playing that many competitive games compared to what I was, the likes of Conor Cleary as well. We brought that into the Clare set up and just keep driving on and our fitness was good as well so we were happy with that."
