Podge Collins says the Clare hurlers are delighted to be part of the Gaelic Voices for Change initiative this weekend.

Over 350 intercounty players will sleep on the streets of Ireland and America on Saturday night, December 16th to raise awareness for homelessness.

Gaelic Voices for Change are a voluntary group of past and present intercounty GAA players who - supported by the Gaelic Players Association (GPA) and Women's Gaelic Players Association (WGPA) - have come together to initiate a community action initiative that shines a light on important social issues - their initial focus is on the escalating housing and homeless crisis. 

Thus, this weekend they are planning a solidarity sleep-out in twelve towns and cities, namely Dublin, Galway, Cork, Limerick, New York, Boston, Belfast, Carlow, Naas, Portlaoise, Sligo, and Wexford

"As a squad the Clare hurlers are delighted to be involved," Podge Collins told RTE. "It's just one night what we will experience won't compare to what the people who are homeless are going through all year round but we hope that by showing solidarity we can help in a small way.

"As players we are all busy but it's important to look at what is going on in the world around us past GAA and see if we can bring about any sort of change. We have an opportunity and a voice and it's important to use that."
