Revenge not the focus, says Cavan boss Graham

Cavan boss Mickey Graham says his players are focused on the performance and not the opposition coming to Kingspan Breffni this weekend.

The Blues battle Roscommon on Sunday looking to end their poor run of form in recent years against the Connacht county while also picking up their first pair of points in this year’s Allianz League campaign.

The Breffni men lost out in the Division 2 final to the Rossies last year and also made back-to-back championship exits to them during Terry Hyland's reign, but Graham insists that revenge will not be a factor for his side in Round 4.

“It’s well documented that Roscommon have had the upper hand in the last number of years but while that’s there, the lads are just focused on trying to get a result,” Graham told The Anglo-Celt this week.

“It doesn’t matter that it’s Roscommon this weekend, it wouldn’t matter if it was Dublin, the lads are just focused on trying to get a result.

“It would be nice to put the Roscommon thing to bed this weekend and we’ll be hoping to do that but all we can focus on is putting in a good performance and hopefully a few things will go in our favour.”

On recent performances, the Cavan Gaels man added: “I think we are competing very well, we are not far away from turning the corner and we just need a lucky break here or there. If we get it that might build some momentum and momentum is key in league football, if you can get a win or two that can snowball on.”
