Leitrim Hurling 2018 / League / Meagher Cup - 6 Like(s)
Would just like to wish the Carrick hurlers all the best at the weekend a tremendous achievement to win a first Connacht title and surely must fancy there chances against Castleblayney who are by all means a strong side also. I personally think ties like this ones at the weekend are what sets the club championship apart from other competitions. I think either way it will be great to see a Leitrim or a Monaghan team in Croke park in an all ireland hurling final. Best wishes to all involved.

Joe McDonagh Cup 2023 - 6 Like(s)
Great performance yesterday and will feel unlucky not to get the 2 points. Looks like the game vs lapis will be the big one for us although we did get a result v Offaly last year when needed. Not writing off down v us bit after the league game would expect 2 points. In my opinion the Joe mcdonagh is the best competition the gaa has just now majority of the games are crackers and teams have very little between them. We could have any 2 of Offaly laois Kerry or Carlow in the final. Really have to wonder how the gaa doesn't give the rights to tg4 to show these games really is a shame and would be a better watch than the puke football we see most weekends.

Tyrone Club Football - 4 Like(s)

Replying To breffnibluewhite:  "yes but ref was poor lost control first tyrone red card was harsh no need for it then a high dangerous tackle around the neck from Fossa player only resulted in a yellow card was at least a black card and more a red one than the one the tyrone lad got. Having said that tyrones second red card was a disgrace elbow to the jaw a pure act of thuggery and deserves a 12 month ban."
Regarding red cards everyone knows if you touch another players face with or without force will be a red card written into the rules no sympathy for the stupidity of the full back for this. Correct decision. Fossa midfielder was extremely lucky to stay on field personal opinion ref got it wrong and probably did add to incidents at end of game. Second and third red card we'll second was thuggery and hopefully between a ban and if it was me would be pressing for assault charges as surely damage done to Clifford Jaw from this we dont see this guy on a filed anytime soon. Third red card again put hands on head of opponent with or without force so correct call as per rule book. 2 fossa red cards was a second yellow for david Clifford correct and Paudie placed hands on head of opponent and close to eyes hopefully followed up by GAA for longer suspension. Correct calls 4th sending off ws harshest of the lot and can't see how this was more than a yellow for this player. My opinion ref got it wrong. Scenes and speech at end where unsavoury and took away from a good game of football that ws placed. Also from speaking to sources there was another unsavoury incident between Tyrone teams manager and officials at end of game which cameras didn't pick up hopefully the harps manager gets a long ban for this this kind of **** shouldn't be allowed to be involved in the game.

Ref Threatened - 3 Like(s)
Refereed myself both hurling and football small bit of soccer aswell. Did enjoy it majority of time I was out there found a lot of people where ok and understood not everyone is perfect. Also lot of people who were quiet nasty horrible comments some of them personal. As is nature of small counties like ours most nasty people who. I would have known always tried the it's only a game I got carried away sorry shur that's what it's all about excuses as if nothing happened. Stopped referring after I was out in town with my then gf and got harassed on a night out called all the names under the sun took it then started on her same treatment knew then it was to much. As it happened off the field and in my own time Co board didn't want to know. Actually stopped going out socializing for a while wasn't worth it Hope that thug in Roscommon gets jail tbh if it was a Saturday night he would be no different unfortunately will take that along with a number of others to go further with assaults and abuse cases get rid of the scum who bring it to the matches. True Gaels will always be there who respect refs and what they do. Wouldn't recommend referring to anyone going forward for it not worth it long term.

Replying To CTGAA10:  "Why are people getting so upset by what Kerry are doing??can other counties not try and get the standard of club championship to a higher level?fossa won by 3 points and for almost all the game the Tyrone boys had a chance,it wasn't a one sided final in any way..can I ask a question of cork posters..how were ballygiblin still playing juinor this year after playing in all ireland final last year??why were they not playing in the cork intermediate championship??i always thought once a team won a county championship that they moved up to next grade in their county.."
Firstly congrats to both Fossa and Rathmore on there wins and commiserations to both losers who fought hard to the end. Although the dig on Paudie Clifford was disgraceful and hopefully that thug is not allowed on a pitch for a long time. Personally think one thing been overlooked by a number of people regarding structures and kerry taken advantage etc etc when you look at how counties are split up in Ireland very few sports in the world where you can only really play with where you come from both club and county wise. Club wise how many hurlers / footballers over the years have not played highest level simply because of where they came from not because they weren't good enough. Personally admire the structure of kerry / Cork where even a player from small junior team can play senior football and win a championship. Understand this gives them an advantage outside of Kerry but if we look at it another way just because they win kerry doesn't mean automatically win the all ireland it is up to the individual players and teams to keep training and playing and winning if anything extra pressure when they comes out of these counties.

Shinty-Hurling Series To Return In October - 2 Like(s)
Great game was lucky enough to play this twice. Would highly recommend going to it if anyone can. Think selection is to give players from the weaker counties the chance to play with Ireland and also tbh if we where to pick our best players game wouldn't be close.

Dropping Counties Out Of The NHL With Less Than 5 Hurling Clubs - 2 Like(s)
Absolutely crazy tbh seems to be a group who want to kill hurling rather than promote it. Most Gaels in these counties fight tooth and nail to keep things going major kick in the teeth to them. Also this 5 teams number is crazy how can Leitrim expect to get to 5 teams at its peak was probably never anymore than 4 teams. I know my own county upto a few years ago only had 7 teams. Our senior championship only had 4 teams upto maybe 3 4 years ago now at 6 reckon we have a total of 9 clubs in the county but are playing in the all Ireland next year. I know none of the teams mentioned in the report will play there anytime soon but maybe they could look at the Carlow model for how to get the best out of everyone involved as opposed to closing off hurling for these teams. Just a thought all these counties are similar size to us.

Replying To eoinog:  "Great performance from the Hurlers. Coming up against a Cork outfit was always going to be tough. They can be proud of their efforts"
Gave a good account of themselves early goal for Cork side was a massive blow to Easkey who to have any chance always needed a goal or two. After the goal thought Easkey gave a good account and for poor shooting could have been closer at the end. Fair play to ballygiblin after last year's loss to come back and win this year this panel of players have to be admired for what they done. One stat from speaking to a friend only one county outside the top ten / 12 have won this competition since it started hopefully this will change in next few years.

Tooreen where really unlucky best team for 55 minutes but could never get far enough ahead. Monaleen stayed in there and at the end got the scores they needed last one from sideline was a great score and a worthy winner. Tooreen though should be proud of there efforts and hopefully will be back again next year with a better result this time.

Hurlers 2021 - 1 Like(s)
Agree with the above successful teams off the past 10 15 years where founded on strong minors teams of the past. Although we had some success at u21 few semis over the years we never made the breakthrough to a final. Sunday was a hard watch and emphasised how far we are falling. Offal whilst not world beaters where much better in all aspects and we struggled badly in second half. Carlow team has a high average age and time seems to be catching up all the players need to be applauded to keep coming back year after year shows there love for the game and there county. Hopefully with support and patience we can develop another team as good in the next few years and have a successful period once again

Great win at the game dubs wanted it more when it mattered. If rte had sense instead off over paying bad presenters they'd do a last dance style documentary with Dublin team as a sign off. Although better chance of given another bad presenter a big pay rise instead .

Great win for down today whilst some people will see this as a set back for offaly I see it as a potential major turning point for down and Ulster hurling. Always wondered why these games don't get more profile how hard must it be for players from these weaker counties to dedicate themselves to inter county hurling they really should be applauded. Most counties pick from a small pool and players are asked year in year out to dedicate themselves to the cause. Fair play to everyone of them think it's time for the gaa to start promoting these games more.

Had to warm up in their club gear, given a t-shirt with no crest after the match just because they got to the Leinster semi final!!! Then we wonder why we never progress"
Sounds about right. Can remember helping with a fundraiser few years ago county board ordered food for half of us girl serving was apologising for how little she could give us., whilst they had 3 course meal downstairs in hotel. Wonder if there perks are cut back also.

Well done on a fantastic win at the weekend. Both ourselves and yourselves have a lot of similarities. Second code small picks only played in a tight pocket in the county. Although great to see your championship up to 4 senior teams and being competitive shows how hard work will pay off. Always enjoyed our battles over the years great hurling people full of pride and passion and wins like the weekend don't happen by chance they happen when people work hard and buy into things which is what seems to be happening here. Thoroughly deserved and looking forward to playing you next year hopefully we can see down hurling thrive and get the days out they deserve. Ulster hurling is alive and well.

Dublin V Cavan - 1 Like(s)
Best of luck to cavan today really hope they give the dubs a game and really think they are more than capable of this. Donegal where tipped to be the team to beat Dublin by many this year Cavan played them off the pitch for majority of the game and with 14 men for 50 of the 70 minutes. Really think key is to stop Dublin scoring a goal early and to frustrate them by all means. Cavan also can't afford to have any black cards today need full 15 on pitch for full 70 minutes. Also worth noting Cavan are a big physical team with majority over 6 foot tall especially in forwards. If there's is a slight and I mean ever so slight weakness to Dublin team is a lack of height in back line. Hopefully Cavan can exploit this. Anyways best of luck and hopefully we get a good game that is at least close in the end.

Best of luck to the Carlow footballers tomorrow great result last week can't remember when we last beat Longford. Team seem to enjoy hard ground where they can use there speed to attack at pace to get 2 wins from 3 is great and reward for the hard work of the players. To finish off remember couple years ago been at a game we lost and someone saying it's a good thing we don't play New York or they'd beat us aswell guess Saturday will give us our answer if they will or not.

Can only beat whats in front of you on any given day. After seen the performance still think a full strength Offaly team would have struggled yesterday. Would have been a lot tighter but no guarantee they would have beat us. One of the best performances I've ever seen from any Carlow county team ever touch stick work long range striking and work rate all through the roof. The Carlow hurlers are definitely the definition of squeezing every drop of potential out of every player and maximizing results. Thinking 11 of the 15 starting came from 2 clubs shows what can be done when everyone buys in and works together. Regarding laois should have beat us that day but they didn't and they didn't beat Offaly either. Tbh if shoe was on other foot and they could have put out a weaker team to knock Carlow out it would go without saying they would do it in a heartbeat, let's not forget that in all this there no angels themselves Roll on croker and hopefully we can claim our second Joe Mac...

All Ireland Football Final 2020 - Dublin V Mayo - 1 Like(s)
Well done Dublin great win decent game what do mayo need to do to win one. One thing lot of placating by Dublin players at times not nice to see. Fitzsimmons fouled holding his eyes pointing to mayo player looking for card. No.10 holding head no matter where he was hit. Mannion holding his head like he was clipped by Joshua. Doesn't change result great win and probably over 70 minutes better team got the luck as well. Hopefully mayo can be back next year.
