Niall, Aisling and young Dan Donoher

Ireland captain Seamus Coleman has donated €15,000 towards the fundraising for young Dan Donoher, the son of Laois footballers Niall and Aisling Donoher.

Young Dan, who has just turned one, was diagnosed with Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) Type 1 and Scoliosis late last year. Without treatment Dan's life expectancy is 18-24 months.

The Laois family are fundraising €2m for pioneering treatment in America which offers Dan a chance at an improved or even a normal life.

Niall and Aisling (nee Quigley) Donoher both represented Laois footballers at senior level.

Already over €600,000 has been raised with the GAA community nationally coming on board to help out.

The contribution of €15,000 from the Everton player was gratefully received by the Donohers.
