"We've no issue with him double-jobbing"

Mullinalaghta manager Mickey Graham celebrates at the final whistle

Cavan county board are confident that Mickey Graham’s dual management commitments “won’t be an issue” at the beginning of next year.

Graham, who succeeded Mattie McGleenan as Breffni County boss back in August, steered his Mullinalaghta side to a historic Leinster club SFC success on Sunday with victory over Kilmacud Crokes in Tullamore.

Cavan are set to commence their season on December 30th against Down in the opening round of the Dr McKenna Cup and, speaking to RTE Sport, PRO Mark O’Rourke says the board see no issue with the Cavan Gaels clubman combining both roles until the Longford champions’ campaign is concluded.

"It was always a possibility and it was agreed at the start that Mickey Graham would remain with Mullinalaghta as long as they progressed," said O’Rourke.

"It would have been flagged in the interview process. Mullinalaghta were going for three-in-a-row in Longford and they had come very close in Leinster last year. So, it was always a possibility they could progress."

He added: "Cavan people are absolutely delighted with the achievement. It's a fantastic achievement by Mickey and all the players. He has a fantastic backroom team in Cavan and we've no issue with him double-jobbing.

"He has been heavily involved with Cavan over the last number of weeks while continuing his work with Mullinalaghta. It's not an issue and knowing Mickey it won't be an issue."
