For the first time, Tyrone are through to a third successive All-Ireland semi-final.

Mickey Harte’s men have qualified for the last four regardless of how their Phase III Super 8s clash with Dublin in Omagh on Sunday week pans out, having already beaten both Roscommon and Cork.

They got the better of Monaghan at the semi-final stage last year and were sent packing by Dublin in 2017. (Mayo only beat the consistent Red Hands by a single point at the quarter-final stage in 2016.) This year’s semi-final opposition will be provided by either Kerry, Mayo or their Ulster semi-final conquerors Donegal.

Captain Mattie Donnelly told The Belfast Telegraph: “I think we're probably the first Tyrone team to make three semi-finals in a row. That in itself, considering the teams Tyrone have had, is an achievement.

“There were so many learnings from that Donegal game and it was just about getting momentum again through the back door. We always had faith and belief that we would give ourselves a chance to be back in this position.”
