Armagh's Oisin O'Neill dishes off the pass

Armagh attacker Oisin O’Neill reckons games against Tyrone and Cavan can help set the tone early for the Orchard men for the forthcoming season.

Last night’s Dr McKenna Cup draw at Riddel Hall, Belfast saw Kieran McGeeney’s side thrown into a tricky group to start their 2020 campaign, with holders Tyrone up first on December 29th, and O’Neill says they’ll be relishing the challenge.

"I suppose any draw you get is going to be tough. Good competitive games against Tyrone and Cavan will certainly help us,” he told BBC Sport.

"There's the added pressure of Tier 2 if we're relegated in the league this year, so we have to be ready to hit the ground running."

The Crossmaglen man added: “We have a really settled group at the minute. The only man we lost is Charlie (Vernon), who retired, and we're all sad to see him go.

"Apart from that, everyone has been training hard. We've done a lot of work so far and hopefully that will stand with us whenever the football starts."
