Armagh SHC final: Middletown regain crown

August 12, 2019

Middletown gets their hands on the Cardinal MacRory Cup once again.

Middletown 2-17

Keady Lamh Dhearg 1-13

Middletown avenged their defeat to Keady Lamh Dhearg in last year's Armagh SHC final to regain the Cardinal MacRory Cup at the Athletic Grounds on Saturday.

In one of the first county finals of the year, Middletown secured their fourth title in five years and 15th in all thanks to a dominant performance. Conor McAnallen gave the holders an early lead, but Middletown never looked back after Martin Moan's fourth-minute goal and a string of points from freetaker David Carvill helped them to a 1-10 to 0-5 interval lead.

Moan struck a second major in the 37th minute before Tiarnan O'Neill managed a late consolation goal for Keady.

Meanwhile, Mullahoran St Joseph's were crowned Cavan SHC winners following a 2-9 to 0-12 victory over Pearse Og at Kingspan Breffni yesterday.

First half substitute Philip Brady was awarded man-of-the-match after scoring 1-2 for the winners.
