Former Roscommon manager Kevin McStay is still bewildered by the three-month suspension he received earlier in the year.

McStay accepted his punishment for throwing a ball at a linesmen, but felt it was unacceptable and that he should not have received such a lengthy ban, yet a Dingle mentor was handed an eight-week suspension for punching a player during a Kerry SFC game last month.

The Roscommon Herald reports that McStay, who was speaking at a presentation of medals to the Roscommon Masters and ladies intermediate football teams, as saying:

“I threw the ball accidentally during the Donegal match. Well, I deliberately threw the ball, but it accidentally hit the linesman,” stated McStay.

“I got a three-month suspension. Yet a guy in Dingle got a couple of weeks for an altercation.”
