The Late Michael Donovan The last surviving member of the famed Oldcastletown man which won North Cork and county junior hurling championships in 1943 passed to his eternal reward. When Michael (Mick) Donovan died. Mick, as he was affectionately known, played at corner forward on that team. After his playing career had ended he became involved in the administration of the club which in 1949 changed to Kildorrery as it is now known. In the early 1950s he was one of the members instrumental in the purchase of the present club grounds at Fermoy Road and served as secretary to the field committee, until work commitments forced him to leave the parish. He eventually went to reside in Cork City having married Kildorrery lady Betty Cross and settled down to spend the remainder of his life there. Sympathy is extended to his widow, sons, daughter-in-law, grand- children and relatives. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dílis. Courtesy of The Avondhu 13th March 2008
