The late Henry O'Mahony The death took place on May 19th 2007, of Henry O'Mahony, St Philomena's Place, Carrigaline. A native of Rathanker, Monkstown, he came to live in Carrigaline when he got married over forty years ago. Henry worked as a young man in Verolme Cork Dockyard but worked in Carrigaline for An Post for the last 19 years. Henry was very popular postman who delivered in the Waterpark area; everybody knew him as he travelled his route on the postman's bike. He had a kind word for everyone and brightened up their day. A great lover of sport he was involved with the Carrigaline Soccer and GAA clubs. Henry acted as umpire with Carrigaline referees, Gerard and Michael Harrington, at GAA venues throughout the country, including an All-Ireland senior hurling semi-final in Croke Park. His umpire's coat was placed on his coffin and he was accorded a guard of honour by the GAA, while his colleagues in An Post shouldered his coffin. He was buried in the local cemetery after Requiem Mass in the church of Our Lady and St John,. He will be sadly missed by his wife Kay (nee Murphy) by his daughter Anne, sons Alex and Finbarr, brother Neily, sister Katie, brothers in law, sisters in law, sons in law John, nephews, niece, relatives and friends to whom widespread sympathy is extended.
