The late Anna O'Mahony The death took place in the Cork University Hospital of Anna O'Mahony, wife of the late Dan O'Mahony, Castle View, and formerly of Woodstock. She was mother of John and the late Mary Ann and James, she was sister of the late Willie Buckley, well known historian and author, and aunt of the late Donal Buckley poet and musician, Clyduv. Anna who was in her mid nineties led a very active life in her native community in farming and sport. Shew as one of the last surviving members of the first camogie team players of the 1920s and 30s in Carrigtowhill. She was a great life long supporter of the GAA and a long time servicing member of the local ICA in which she was actively involved in several crafts, debates, music dance and local projects. She promoted pilgrimages and tours for club and farming association, especially abroad. Anna was always on call to trace family relations going back generations, she had an amazing memory and a great sense of humour up to the end, and could recall where old homes, wells and by ways existed in the parish in years gone by. She will be sorely missed by her many friends and neighbours and especially her son John, nephews, nieces and a large number of extended relatives. The funeral took place to St Mary's Cemetery on May 9th, 2007 after requiem mass in St Mary's Church at which a large congregation paid tribute to her memory.
