The late Gareth Turner The villages of Carrig and Riverstown and surrounding areas were plunged into deep shock and sadness on the untimely death of Gareth Turner. Gareth, who was only 27 years old, was involved with our Club both as a player and regular lotto ticket seller. Gareth played with Carrig NS and at Minor level with Birr. At the age of 17 he was part of the 1996 Carrig Intermediate panel that won the Championship. He trained and played with Carrig up to August 2006 when Carrig went out of the championship. To his father and mother Tom and Bernadette, sister Carol, brother Brian, brother in law, nephews, nieces, aunts and uncles, cousins and to a wide circle of friends we extend our deepest sympathy.
