O'Regan, Joe

The late Joe O'Regan The unexpected death of Joe O'Regan, Union Hall, cast a dark cloud over the parish and surrounding areas and its shadow still is and will be lingering for some time. Harriet, his wife, family Margaret, Johnny and Ellen, his mother, Helena, brother Michael, sister Liz, Mary and Helen, lost one of our best known and respected parishioners and clubmen. The name Joe O'Regan was synonymous with Castlehaven GAA. The club had lost a great under age secretary and also treasurer to the adult club. Joe was always early to Moneyvolihane and the Black Field the day of games and always had the flags and scoreboard reading in plenty of time before the game. Joe was always easy to contact. His mobile was always answered whether he was at sea, football pitch or at home. Club chairman, Paddy Hurley gave an oration at the graveside, finishing by saying Joe was a caring, loyal, hard-working and easy-going man, popular with everyone. He showed nothing but respect for his club and his fellow clubmen and will be sorely missed. Ar dheis De go raibh a anam dilis. Slean leat. Courtesy of Southern Star 22 April 2006
