The people of Carbury are still reeling from the shock news on the tragic death of Tommy Brennan, Dunshaughlin and formerly Ticknevin, Carbury. Tommy was on an Annual Golfing Outing in Malaga, Spain with his wife Ann jane and some friends when he got into difficulties while swimming close to his hotel. His friends tried frantically to help him but they were unable to revive him.

Tommy (54) grew up in Ticknevin and went to the local National School and afterwards he went to the Vocational School in Edenderry where he was loved by all his school mates. When he finished school he went to work with Air Lingus as an Aircraft Mechanic at Dublin Airport. In recent years Tommy formed his own company and was a very successful businessman. Seamus MacGabhann, Cathaoirleach of Dunshaughlin GAA Club said that "Tommy was a valued member of our club and took great interest in our teams performance. He was a committee member with the Golf Society and only last Saturday week he enjoyed a great day out with us in Palmerstown House estate. He loved his beloved Kildare and never missed a chance to see them in action."

"Dunshaughlin GAA club wish to extend your deepest sympathy to Tommy's wife Ann Jane and their children Suzanne and Andrew and his large circle of friends on this sad occasion."
Tommy's funeral Mass took place to St. Patrick's Church, Dunshaughlin on Friday last, where the funeral route from his home to the Church was thronged with mourners. Deepest sympathy is extended to his wife Ann Jane, daughter Suzanne, son Andrew, mother Nan, father Andy, brother Ciaran, sisters Kathleen and Trish, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, relatives and a large circle of friends.
