A Mallow man who spent most of his life serving the community passed away at Cork University Hospital on Tuesday, April 24. Donal Culloty from Castlepark Avenue worked at various positions at Mallow Sugar Factory and will be well known for his activity is such groups as the FCA, Mallow GAA Club and Mallow Red Cross.

At the time of his death Donie was a member of the Management Committee at Carrigoon and in the past served as Chairman of both the Mallow Minor and Juvenile Clubs. Donie served for many years in the FCA. He joined Mallow Red Cross in 1961 and since 2010 he was Vice Chairman of the organisation. He also filled the PRO position and he was a member of the Cork team that won the 1967 All Ireland President's Senior First Aid Competition.
Other members of that team included household names associated with the Red Cross including Tom Mills (Leader) Martin Curtis, Corneilus Collins, Joseph Gardiner and Michael Murphy.
Donie was also deeply involved in coffee mornings for the East Africian Food Crisis and he also played a huge part in the popular Senior Citizens Christmas parties.
Both the Red Cross and Mallow GAA formed a guard of honour during his funeral ceremonies. Requiem Mass was celebrated in St Mary's Church at 12 noon on Saturday April 28. Sons Paul and Marcus paid special tributes to their father at the end of Mass. He was laid to rest in St Gobnaits Cemetery.

He is survived by his wife Nora, sons Daniel, Jason, Marcus and Paul, sisters Mary, Noreen and Lily, relatives, neighbours and friends. To Nora and family we extend our deepest sympathy,
